It's still very fun, and it's surprising how many more things you can do in this than GTA4 (more weapons, better, varied fighting, more vehicles, etc. I forgot how much fun it was just riding a BMX bike everywhere. I remember the list of cheats being way better for San Andreas, although I haven't entered any for this new go around yet.

That being said, the graphics are pretty terrible, and the controls are pretty awful.

No kidding. Turns out I started this thread nine years ago -- I had no idea!

For the record, I barely played the game. Unlike Vice City, this game was a little too hard and tedious for me. I rebought it on a recent PSN sale. I need to give it another chance maybe.

Get ready for the most frustrating gaming experience ever - seriously, I put myself through beating the game because I've never beat one of the older GTA's - will probably never play one of the old ones again either.

The controls are beyond frustrating.

But with that said -it's still a great game, I actually think the graphics are great, especially for their time - the lighting used in this game is really impressive as well.

There is a lot of stuff to do and the civilians of San Andreas say some pretty funny stuff but I find myself going back to GTA IV: THBOGT & TLAD all the time.

James Woods (Mike Toreno) and Samuel L. Jackson (Office Tenpenny) do a great job as well in this game.

One last thing....I think C.J. (the character you play) is the most relatable main protagonist Rockstar has ever made - he's the only one that shows signs of fear and hesitation - he really is a great character to play.

How does this compare to GTA IV in terms of difficulty? This is the only GTA that I have played and I also beat it. I have that complete edition of GTA IV, but have yet to open it.

The most frustrating thing about GTA IV was not enough (or did they even have any at all?) checkpoints in missions. So frustrating to see a cut scene (which you can skip, yes, I know), drive to an area, see another cut scene, have a gun battle, see another cut scene, have another gun battle, and then get killed driving to the finish.

I'm looking right at you, bank robbery mission.

No checkpoints at all in missions in GTA IV. I know this because I'm playing it now and have given serious consideration to stomping the disc to bits a couple of times this weekend.
