Is Smackdown vs Raw being cancelled?

Heard a rumor that PS2 next wrestling game (S vs R) is being cancelled due to the WWE being sued over it. Anyone heard about this? :(

PixyJunket 10-19-04 10:27 PM

Huh? Where'd you read that? Why would they be sued over it?

WWE sues Jakks, THQ, and a bunch of individuals, alleging fraud, bribery, racketeering, money-laundering and everything else they can think of. This is gonna get ugly.

Damm, I hope they still release the game......if not, that would really piss me off :grunt:

I was hoping they'd sue THQ for making shitty games, but this is good enough.

The N64 THQ Wrestling games were pretty good though that had more to do with AKI than anything.

A glimmer of hope!

From Reuters:

Video game maker THQ Inc. said on Tuesday that it is not in a position to comment on allegations in a lawsuit filed earlier in the day by World Wrestling Entertainment Inc (WWE.N: Quote, Profile, Research) against THQ, toy maker Jakks Pacific Inc (JAKK.O: Quote, Profile, Research) and others.
In the suit, WWE alleges a bribery scheme involving a lucrative license deal for toys and games based on wrestling stars.

THQ said in a statement that it is not directly accused of any wrongdoing in the complaint, and believes WWE is pleased with how it has managed their brand.

It said it intends to vigorously protect and pursue its rights, if necessary, and the suit has no effect on games currently scheduled for release.
