Ques re Logitech Xbox wireless controllers and also any deals?

I really like the new Logitech Precision Wireless controllers for the Xbox (Part 963334-0403) and was wondering how two of them would work on the same Xbox, playing at the same time? Are there any issues with inteferene from one controller to the other's receiving station or anything like that?

Also, anyone know of any good deals on them? Buy.com used to have them for $34.95 and have since gone up to $39.95. There is a $5 off of $50 coupon that I could use if buying two but any other deals?

Thanks!

I own two for the Xbox and one for the PS2. I'd have to say they are a great purchase (especially w/ 4 cats and a 5 year old).

I use both Xbox controllers at the same time and have no interference issues between the controllers or the 2.4 gig phones I own. Unlike the Wavebird, there is no channel toggle switches so they must auto sense which freq to use. The only issue I've ran into is they act kind of funky when the batteries are low but I solved that with plenty of spare rechargable batteries.

I purchased them both at Wal-mart which were $29.95 at the time but I believe they've gone back up to $39.95

Westgd,
Thanks for the quick reply. Have the rechargeable batteries been good lifespan? Standard batteries are getting me close to the 50 hours that they advertise? What Mah batteries are you using?

westgd 10-14-04 01:38 PM

ngp,

I actually get a little over 50 hrs per charge because I turn vibration off. I started off with the Energizer NiMh 1850 but now I'm using Duracell NiMh 2050. Got both at walmart as well and definitly worth it, I never use my corded controllers anymore.

Only thing is I wish they could of added some sort of low battery indicator on the controller or something.

I much prefer the selectable signal wavebird. 2 Logitechs work fine, but 3 or more never works for me. Screws them all up. A shame too, because they are a fine product, I just wish my friends and I could all play wireless.

Cool, thanks for the info gang...I'll probably just get the Logitech since I have one and another would be sweet. The rechargeables is definitely worth checking out if they are yielding the same length of play....thanks again Westgd and Michael for your input!

i've got 2 of the new logitech xbox wireless controllers...and they both work just fine together!. i have been very happy with them, and the battery life is excellent.

.....on a side note:
i actually had 2 of the original logitech wireless controllers (the bigger ones, that used 4 AA's).....anyhow....one day a few of us were playing madden, and all of the sudden: bam- they both stopped responding...after calling logitech "tech support"- troubleshooting for about 5 minutes...the tech placed me an order for 2 new controllers- i received them within 1 week. ...
i was really impressed with their customer service (not that the units broke though)- but they didn't even make me send the old units back....
.the older ones only lasted about 3 months, hopefully these new ones will last alot longer.

I guess I need to call them, because one of my friends looked up on the net to see if anyone else was having the problem we have with more than 2 and there doesn't seem to be a problem. :hscratch: We played Friday night and they were acting up with just two of them plugged in.

Have you tried pressing the little "connect" button on the receiver? I think this changes channels. Both may be on the same channel, or on the same channel as another wireless appliance in the house...

Michael Corvin 10-17-04 03:06 PM

yep. Sometimes it helps, but only for a little while. More than two has never worked, and like I mentioned above, only once in a while is two an issue.

have two of the original Logitech Wireless XBox controllers for sale if interested. Barely used, great shape.

I just bought one of the Logitech Wireless XBox controllers, and I like it so far except for one thing: the shoulder buttons on the one I got are super-sensitive. With a normal controller I can rest my index fingers on the shoulder buttons without any chance of accidentally triggering them, so to speak. With this wireless one, the shoulder buttons react to the slightest touch, which is a major frustration. Did I just get a bad controller or are they all like this?

Michael Corvin 10-20-04 10:22 PM

Nope. They are all like that. including the originals. I am forever accidentally launching grenades in Halo.

Daryl 10-21-04 01:54 AM

Thanks! It sucks to play Madden where you're trying to run for the corner to turn upfield and suddenly your Running Back starts juking sideways and losing yards. I guess I'll learn to cope with it.

fujishig 10-21-04 10:34 AM

Ha! Try shooting freethrows in ESPN NBA...

Daryl 10-21-04 10:53 AM

I can't make free throws with the regular controller, so no loss there!

fujishig 10-21-04 11:58 AM

Hmm... maybe I can't blame it all on the controller, then... :P

It's the first time I've ever had to turn on free-throw help in a basketball game...

Just picked one of the new versions up from eCost.com for approx $41 shipped. (controller was $37 and change. They advertise free shipping over $25, but tack on a $3.95 handling fee).

Cheapest I could find

My Best Buy put up a big display with them this past weekend. $39.99 with the $5 gamer coupon bringing it to 34.99. Just a thought.

Son of a - !
I just bought it at Best Buy on Saturday - I didn't get a deal . Looks like I'll be heading back there today or tomorrow.

You have to get one of those gamer gift cards. It is a gift certificate that has a $5 off video game accessory or software priced $19.99+ in it, not really a deal you can price match.

fujishig 10-21-04 04:08 PM

Are you sure the Xbox one is 39.99? Usually, they have the Xbox one for 49.99 and the PS2 one for 39.99 (though both are 39.99 at Walmart)

That's is what I surprised about: 39.99 instead of the 49.99 I paid (before reward zone certificates)
