FIFA 2005...anyone get it?

Just wondering if anyone bought it today.....is it worth it?

Looking to pick up a soccer game for XBOX....and Winning Eleven is supposed to come out next year, should I get FIFA or wait a while?

raven56706 10-12-04 04:09 PM

got it and it is off the chain

astrochimp 10-12-04 06:05 PM

Not out here yet here in Ontario Canada but they say within the next fews days.I loved the demo although i will probably pick up the Xbox version instead cuz i prefer those games on console.

IGN has a very good review for it:

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/555/555915p1.html

lordzeppelin 10-12-04 07:38 PM

I'll have it in my hands tomorrow...none of my local stores got it today.

Dare I say I wish there was some sort of competitor to Fifa on the Xbox...The improvements have been minor since the 2003 game...but I'm addicted and can't wait to FINALLY play online with it...

I heard Winning Eleven was cancelled, but I can't remember where. I'd jump on that in a hot minute, but I'm too into the EPL right now to hold off on picking up Fifa...especially with my first love (hockey) on the back burner...

astrochimp 10-12-04 08:04 PM

Im like you lordzeppelin,i miss the NHL so the EPL keeps me busy Saturday and Sunday mornings.I was very dissapointed in both ESPN NHL2k5 and NHL 2005 so i really hope Fifa 2005 will stay in my Xbox for longer than those 2 titles.

Wompratz 10-13-04 01:58 PM

It has gotten great reviews...one mag said one of its cons was "lack of African or Asian leagues".

Um, no offence but...who cares? :)

Then again I think that was in Gamepro (Trust me, it was a free sub which is thankfully ending, WORST-MAGAZINE-EVER).

We've played 04 to hell and it was a lot of fun and this looks even better albiet more of a fine tuning rather than a huge overhaul.

J_J 10-13-04 03:13 PM

I will be getting this, got a good review on www.teamxbox.com with a score of 9/10.

At least it has live capability which will give it a repeat playability.

JJ

DJ_Longfellow 10-13-04 05:21 PM

Yeah, I still may pick it up....seems good. I just have all my ESPN games also to play with.....it's a sporgy

astrochimp 10-13-04 09:46 PM

Picked it up today for my Xbox and im really enjoying it.I cant really compare it to anything since i havent played a football,err...soccer game in a long time but it looks cool and the gameplay seems really good.I like the speed on fast, seems a bit slow to me on normal and as of now im not exactly lighting up the scoreboard but i will work on that ;)

lordzeppelin 10-19-04 07:27 AM

I've been playing it for a week now...and I'm a bit annoyed. It seems kinda...unpolished. The Commentary and the features seemed better last year minus the live play (xbox).

However, the biggest gaff is that there's no option for a league season. I don't care to make a coach and win approval and all that crap. I want to play a season with my team. That's all. But no...

MR ROBOTO 9000 10-19-04 09:38 AM

Does the game access the disc so much on all of your copies too ?
I can barely hear the announcers with all the disc thrashing.

heavywear 10-19-04 10:43 AM

got it today and anxious to check it out tonight

kar10 10-20-04 12:49 PM

This game is terrible. The only good about the game is LIVE.

Don't get it unless you have LIVE.

kar10 10-20-04 01:11 PM

******I like about 2005 over 2004

The dribbling is great.

The passing improved.

LIVE soccer game :)

More Teams

The ball physics improve.

The player body movement also improved.

******I didn't like about 2005 over 2004

The graphics. I don't know if it's just me or the 2004 look better?

The game is slower.

The camera angle is terrible. I tried fixing it and I got something but I prefer 2004 way more.

There isn't a multi-language commentary and multi-language menu.
I like listening to spanish commentary.

There isn't an option to choose you favorite jersey.
I often got confused with the other team wearing the same color jersey.

If you have 2004 and don't have LIVE don't even buy it is a waste of money. There are more thing I didn't like about the game but I get back to update the list.

dancinns 10-20-04 03:59 PM

I'll buy it as soon as Copenhagen buys it. :)

There is on my game(Xbox) before every match.

Ive had it for a week and im really enjoying it still.Currently doing a career starting in division two(England) and i had 5 hard fought draws to start and finally got a win, plus one league cup win so far, although im only playing on semi-pro level.

I still may pick this up....haven't played a soccer game in a while. I have a lot of credit at GameRush and I'm going to trade on another game (MK:Deception), so it will be no money out of my pocket....

lordzeppelin 10-24-04 01:57 AM

After more playing time on this...

I'm pretty disappointed. For one, there's no option to play a season with your squad, only the damn career mode to coach. That SUCKS. I really can't get over that. I'm writing EA a note about that...

Secondly, I'm thoroughly annoyed at not having the option to set up your tactics at the beginning of the game when you're adjusting the lineup - especially when playing on live. Online you've got to eat up one of your "pauses" that you get to adjust the damn tactics, which reset after each game. Grrrr...

And finally, I swear this year there's more players just standing around. Like if you do a long pass that dies off, the players just stand there. It seemed more fluid in the '04 version.

And with live, I'm getting a choppy game 1out of 4 or 5 times, which I know is just network fluctuation, but with, say, NHL 2K5, I'm getting one choppy game for every 15-20.

Once again, I'm growing more disappointed with each passing EA game. Fortunately for them, there's no other US Xbox Soccer game...

DJ_Longfellow 10-24-04 11:59 AM

Well, maybe I will wait now. I went to GameRush to pick it up for XBOX, but they did not have it. I have like $260 in credit there, so I wanted to get something new....but alas, I had to pass. Hopefully I will use my credit on something good here eventually (already have Halo2 and Ghost Recon 2 paid for there with my credit)

lordzeppelin 10-24-04 08:50 PM

DJ,

Don't let me discourage you. The gameplay is damn near flawless. I had to re-learn some of the gameplay techniques, which explains my problem with through-balls...

I'm just frustrated with the options and layout...

DJ_Longfellow 10-25-04 04:27 PM

Ok, well....maybe I will get it then ;) I just have to find a GameRush that has it since I have $260 in credit there....with more possible if I trade some more DVD's in.

I haven't played a soccer game in a while, so I won't have to RElearn anything, just LEARN

Good luck.

The buyers at Blockbuster bury themselves in games like Tak 2 (did a single person even play the first one?), while skimping on FIFAs for both rental and (especially) retail.

Truly incredible decision-making.
