Help, my PS2 won't read Blue Disc Games

Hi, I need help is there any way u would be able the Playstation 2 to read Games that have the Blue Disc?

Make sure you lay the PS2 Horizontally and upside down. Other than replacing the lens, this seems to be the only method that works... for me at least.

Uh-oh. Your PS2 is dirty. You can try to vaccuum it out, but I'm not sure if that will work. This same thing happened to me a year ago. I called CS at 800-345-SONY and explained the problem to them. They were very nice and gave me a work number and told me to mail in my PS2 to them. They cleaned and repaired it for free and fed ex-ed it back to me in a matter of days for free. Try that first.

My friend had to send his in to Sony to be fixed. Cleaning may fix it or it may just extend the life of it for awhile. Try compressed air.

This happened to me also. Luckly it was within 90 days after purchase so I sent it to sony and they fixed it for free. Finally got it back in about 4 weeks. Haven't had a problem since. That was 18 months ago.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I will go ahead call Sony.

if your ps2 is new it cant read alot of blue discs especially game sharks.

One other thing - when we called sony and explained the problem, they ended up fixing it for free because early versions of the console were prone to going bad just like this after a few years.

A quickie fix is to just put small piece(s) of tape around the hole in the center of the disc. If you notice, the blue discs are much thinner than the regular ones. The tape should make it thicker in the middle. Sounds crazy but it works. Maybe it has something to do with the balance of the disc while it spins... who knows?

I have one of the earliest PS2's (model 30001?). The only blue disc I have is Time Crisis 2, and from the moment I bought it, it would make an awful grinding noise and never start playing. I tried the little piece of tape trick about a year ago and haven't had a problem since.
