As the company previously hinted, a new Final Fantasy VII-related title featuring Final Fantasy VII's Vincent Valentine has been in development for some time. The PlayStation 2 RPG Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII will take place one year after the events of the upcoming DVD movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. After peace has returned to the world, a group calling itself the Dirge of Cerberus appears and attacks a city. Square Enix promises the game's story will solve the final mysteries of Final Fantasy VII's world. The first magazine scan can be seen below, courtesy of SquareNet.

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII will be available in Japan sometime next year.

Not sure what to think about this. Could be cool and I hope it is. But I won't get my hopes up until I've seen more details.

Final Fantasy games are the only reason i want a PS2. Last one i played was 9 :(

I'd wish they would just remake FF7. I mean reading all the text it looked like I wrote the damn thing sometimes. It had all types of grammar errors and sometimes shit just did not make sense. I'd also like them to do the same for FF8 it was even worse.

Oddly enough.. it's being reported as an action game, though Square has already proven they can screw that up as well.
