I played a little last night. I previously only played NHL2k3, so I don't know what 2k4 was like. This one seems quite different in controls and handling, but once I started getting used to it I really liked it. It seems much more sim then 2k3 as you can actually setup plays and the defense doesnt just run after you all over the place. I suck horribly though as I have become determined to learn how to play with the Advanced control settings. I used to only play with the Classic style.
The graphics seem a little more cartoony then they did in 2k3 though, but not bad though.
The party games are pretty cool and certainly a nice touch.

You can choose (via Game Modes, Skills, Single Event) the Accuracy Shooting competiton to try to get a feel for it, but there's no true practice mode.

As someone who has loved this series from NHL 2k2 on DC, before this series hit the mainstream (I remember quite a few skeptics in this forum when I basically said 'Get 2k3. 2k2 was miles better than NHL 2002, and EA's heading in the wrong direction'), a word of advice to anybody new...
To get the most out of the game, learn Advanced Controls. (I can't stress this highly enough.) And use Manual Aim.

my friend still hasnt signed in and he is the official 16th. I don't want to hold the league up for him though since he is proving to be unreliable, although he claims he is going to signup tonight. Maybe wait until tomorrow and if he hasnt signed in then someone else can have his spot.
