Wireless (2.4Ghz) NES/SNES Controllers Coming Soon!

http://www.playmessiah.com/home/

Part of me wants to drop $100 with the quickness..

But, I'm SO picky about my controllers, and that D-Pad looks strange.

I still play my NES and SNES often.. very often.

Roan 08-19-04 12:17 AM

For $29.99 it might be worth a try.

tanman 08-19-04 01:07 AM

I dunno. It looks way to funky to be very functional. I would have thought classical gamers would have put more of an emphasis on form but it doesn't seem like it. This is all sight unseen of course.

PixyJunket 08-19-04 12:02 PM

I'm going to shoot them a couple of emails about the form factor and D-Pad. I'll also be looking out for reviews after the CGE this weekend. The idea of GOOD wireless NES/SNES controllers excites me, but if they don't feel and respond exactly like the Nintendo brands, I'll be hesitant.

Bluebomber 08-20-04 12:09 AM

D-pad does look pretty weird, still 29.99 isn't a horrible price just for trying one out.

Joe Molotov 08-20-04 10:29 AM

Actually kinda reminds me of this...

...which wasn't a bad controller. I remember liking it.

PixyJunket 08-20-04 10:55 AM

I think I'm going to order 1 SNES pad. If it delivers quality, I'll buy another and a pair of NES pads. If it's like the MAX, I could probably get used to it. It just has to FEEL sturdy and be responsive. With as much crazy baseball we've been playing on the beast I don't need my D being jacked by poor controllers.

They've got 2.4 Ghz Genesis pads, 2600 controllers and NES Advantages in the pipeline too.

playmessiah 08-25-04 07:20 PM

So I guess the best way to describe it is that it takes the rotating disc of the NES MAX and combines it with an arcade stick.

We did get mixed reviews about this during CGE but most people after using it did like it, it just takes a little while to get used to.

The buttons are also quite different from the original because we removed the rubber key the same as the d-pad. Again we used micro switches and springs. What this does is make the buttons very fast compared to the original as well as make them last longer.

I hope this is helpful. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks,
Brad

Here is a link where people have been talking about the 2.4 GHz Wireless Controllers.

Best NES controller EVER.

Hey guys... I forgot, what do you call a newbie who comes to forums to peddle their own company's stuff?

I think he might have come here via PJ's emails, but it seems like our new friend playmessiah (welcome to DVDTalk by the way) is a representative of said company that is releasing these beauts: http://www.playmessiah.com/home/

While your not directly plugging your own wares, just be careful... if you'd like to keep your account here.

PixyJunket 08-26-04 12:07 PM

He didn't start this discussion.. he's simply answering our questions. There's a HUGE difference between creating an account and starting a thread to try and sell something and creating an account to answer questions people have about their posted on an outside forum.

Thanks PJ, wasn't quite sure of the protocol... but your reasoning sounds good.

As for the controllers... $50 for a pair isn't really all that bad... maybe this might be an excuse to go out and find and old NES or SNES.

The lunchbox packaging is priceless!

Great packaging

I'm concerned about the pad as well, but I'm definitely considering picking NES, SNES, (and when they come out) Atari controllers.

At least he was up front and put his company in his post. Besides, it's PixyJunket we need to be careful of, he's only got 12,000 posts. I think those first 12,000 were setting up this one...thought you could outsmart us there Pixy? I'd probably jump on an N64 version, my kids still play the N64 all the time and the cords are killing me the way they tangle them.

Goldberg74 08-26-04 10:26 PM

PJ's no shill (I remembered the word). ;)

Erillian 08-27-04 04:20 PM

Sounds interesting....hate having those wires all over the place.

Any word or is there anything out there for the N64?

Jeremy517 06-08-05 02:15 PM

I got mine recently. I don't like the pad at all. It doesn't feel right. The pad spins and is really sensitive. Trying to go up or down often results in me going up+left or down+left.

It doesn't really make much sense to have a pad like this, since it is not analog and you can only go 8 directions anyways.

Oh well...
