Is Turning your XBOX on and off a lot bad for it ?

Not many games seem to have an exit and shutdown option

is it ok to turn your xbox off during a game ?

It's certainly not good for it, but not necessarily bad. What you want to make sure to do is only turn off power while it's not loading. So after a scene or map loads, not during it is safer to cut the power.

:hscratch: There's games out there with an Exit & Shutdown option?

I have been for two years. Save the game and hit the power button. Never had a problem.

Yes it is bad to keep turning it off and on.

You should keep it on, all the time, if you are worried about that sort of thing. Or just leave it off.

As with any electronics device, turning it on the the hardest on the circuitry as current spikes before returning to operating levels. Therefore, repeatedly cycling power on and off is the best way to wear it out electrically. (You don't see light bulbs burn out once they have already been on...only when you first turn them on)

However, an xbox is meant to be used in sporadic amounts: turning it on when you want to play, and then turning it off when you are done should not be a problem seeing as it has been designed for such use. Just dont keep hitting the power button over and over....

I think he was talking about resetting.

i.e. your getting your as kicked in the super bowl in madden and obviously want to win that game, the game has no quit option and the x-box no reset button, so the only option is to turn the console off and back on.

Madden may have a quit option, that was just an example.

Fixed.
