No I understand it fine. They could have taken a lose like M$. Yeah I know that is not smart but hey they could have done it. They sold it for as much as they knew they could get for it. So yes they could have sold it for $99 if they wanted to at lanch.

PS. We can talk about this all day nobody is going to be right or worng. None of us knows how much the system's cost to make or what they used to pay to make them.

In Japan you are damn right.

Cube is $99 now because its 3 years LATER. The hardware to make cube is cheaper, and they took out some useless features (Digital out I beleive). After 3 years, technology back then which cost alot of money, now is cheaper...so they can offer a, gasp, cheaper price.

Then how come Sony waited for Xbox to drop the price before they did it?

Because the PS2 was still outselling the X-box and GC. They had not reason to drop price before MS did.

Copenhagen 07-20-04 12:15 PM

My thoughts as well as well...had the xbox not dropped in price sony likely would have held as well.

TOPDAWG 07-20-04 12:27 PM

HAHAHA Josh Hinkle and Copenhagen both of your post had spelling mistakes and bad wording. That is right my post are getting to you now come to the TOPDAWG side. You are becoming like me now.

Sometimes the cost of the system has nothing to do with it's price.

Copenhagen 07-20-04 12:28 PM

To add to the useful part of your post :p, MS has been selling the Xbox at a loss all along so yes cost != price in most cases.

ChrisKnudsen 07-21-04 12:41 AM

why was my post deleted? it wasn't that bad. c'mon. at least something better than "please chill" in italics. i don't even know how to use italics. christ!!!!

So you're telling me I'm right that a system will sell for what they can get and not by hardware cost? Also of course N is going to say it's cause hardware cost are low. They damn sure not going to say well we are scared of M$, and Sony and know we may not be able to go toe to toe with them.

You got to cut thew all the company BS and get right down to it. Just like M$ saying we are happy with how xbox is doing. Like hell they are they want the xbox to be as big in the video game world as Windows is in the PC world.

Damn GC is a $100 when the new Zelda comes out I may pick one up. When does that Zelda come out?

PS. Are you telling me I'm right or wrong? Before you said GC is cheap cause of hardware then tell me I'm right on the getting what you can get for a system.
