ESPN NFL 2k5 still $19.99 on Ebgames.com...

Not sure what happened with the earlier pricing situation, but I just happened to see that ESPN NFL 2k5 is listed on their front page for $19.99 on both Xbox and PS2 versions.

Just a heads up for those of you that may be interested.

Josh H 07-08-04 03:15 PM

It looks like it's going to be $19.99 MSRP.

Drexl 07-08-04 04:15 PM

Yes, that's what it will cost. I heard about it a couple of weeks ago on that news show on G4TechTV.

DJ_Longfellow 07-08-04 04:31 PM

Release date says July 20th now also....I wonder how true that is?

asianxcore 07-08-04 07:05 PM

wow if this is true about the low msrp, I'll have to pick it up :)

Jtnguyen12 07-08-04 07:36 PM

You don't need to Pre-order it beside you can find it cheap on weekend newsapper ads :)

Yeah. $20 is the MSRP on this one. :)
This has been reported in several of the "big" video game magazines.

mr.snowmizer 07-08-04 10:05 PM

July 20th is true. And that price has been known to be true for a while.

Anybody interested in trying to lock in the same price for ESPN Hockey or Basketball 2k5 should visit cduniverse.com. They're the only ones to have them that low (every place else you'll look has them at $49.99), and if it turns out that that will indeed be the standard price everywhere, their site is set up to allow one to easily cancel orders.

Decker 07-08-04 10:20 PM

cduniverse.com? (shudder)
That site was a nightmare when I last ordered from them (though that was a few years ago). Are they better now?

Mopower 07-08-04 10:21 PM

I just got an email from ebgames saying that the new release date is July 20 and it is $19.99. So believe that or don't.

CreatureX 07-08-04 11:35 PM

Here is a previous thread on the topic! :)

The $19.99 price has been officially confirmed by Sega for over a month now.

goLUCKY 07-09-04 09:21 AM

$15.00 with the gamer coupon from best buy.

Ginsu 07-09-04 01:06 PM

What is this "gamer coupon" ?

Sorry j/k, could not resist!

BobDole42 07-09-04 01:16 PM

great find! thanks, yo!

Cedrock 07-09-04 05:06 PM

cant wait for it 11 days countdown, coming out before madden i think this will be a very close race this year.

Gizmo 07-09-04 06:04 PM

Its official. I got a memo from Sega today confirming the July 20th date (thouht I beleive it ships the 20th, arrives on the 21st.)

CreatureX 07-09-04 08:55 PM

Anyone get the feeling that with a reduced priced and an early release date (less development time), the game might suffer? I guess we will find out soon enough.

I don't feel that way at all. Sega knows what they're up against; even though Visual Concepts has created some great games, the Madden name wins out every time. I'm thinking Sega probably planned the late shift in release dates all along, to take EA by surprise after already announcing the $19.99 price.

goLUCKY 07-13-04 09:16 AM

2005 ESPN NFL Football $10 bucks with ten codes from http://origin.cokesports.com/programdetails.jsp

Normally $20 with a 10 off coupon from cokesports.com.

BTW. I'm getting this the day it comes out. We should do a dvdtalk league!

DAC 07-13-04 10:46 AM

I think it is a wise choice to make the MSRP $20. I mean, I always get the EA versions (never played Sega football games) Now, with the lower price I will most likely give it a shot.

From some impressions in the newest OXM, the game is supposedly improved greatly from last year, and the online support/options are supposed to be phenomenal.

The price drop is just a last ditch attempt to overcome the Madden brand name.

Drexl 07-13-04 05:15 PM

Also, you have to remember that this kind of game (and I mean Madden too) is not so much developed as it is tweaked from year to year. It's not as if it's a whole new game that has to be developed from scratch, at least until the next console generation.

kurupt 07-15-04 11:24 AM

Good move on Sega's part with the price. I prefer Madden's engine and control, but I love the look and presentation of ESPN. I usually only buy Madden, but this year I'll have to get both with a price that low.
