Do you have to buy a "kit" to join XBOX LIVE?
 

I tried signing up on my system the other night without having bought a starter kit. I was going to just do the monthly subscription, but couldn't sign up. I got to a part that wanted me to type in my activation/subscription code. I tried to get past that point, but it would not let me. Do you have to purchase a 12-month pre-paid card or the 3-month kit? Can't you just sign up monthly? I went to xbox.com but all I do there is click on link after link and can't sign up there either.

see if somebody on dvdtalk will kick you down a free 2 month trial code then you can jump on the month to month payment plan.


I do think you need to type in a subscription code.

It's not like last year when everyone was swimming in codes. There was one newer one in SC : PT, but I've seen nothing else. I didn't even get one in my Rallisport 2 game, which sorta shocked me.

Those old codes really did expire, didn't they? If not, Mr Cinema may certainly have one of my old ones.
