Pinball of the dead/gameboy player ?

Greetings!
I'm looking for some opinions, plz suggest if you can.
I'm an old school gamer (Dk./Dk jr./Ladybug/Satans hollow/ Pinball etc.)
simple but fun games-not too many buttons,or 60 page manuals :)

Just bought a GBA sp nes classic and really like Pinball of the dead/Castlevania AOS

But the screen is too small to enjoy them fully.
I'm considering buying a GC and GB player to play them on a larger screen.

Has anyone seen these games through the player?
Do the graphics look decent on a larger screen?

Don't know if I would really buy any games for the gc itself (or many) Too complicated for an old timer ;)

Would this be a decent purchase for the gba games I would play
(Namco museum/Activision/Dk/zelda,2 games mentioned above etc.)

I appreciate your thughts.
Cheers! jefff

The GB games I've played through the Gameboy Player have all looked great. As for "simple" game recommendations:

Pokemon Pinball Advance (GBA)
Wario Ware Inc. (GBA and GC versions)
Super Monkey Ball (GC) Games don't get much simpler than this!
Super Smash Bros. Melee (GC)

Also check out the upcoming Puyo Pop Fever for Gamecube. It's an addictive puzzle game that comes out July 20th.

Some GBA games come with a Gameboy Player color setting (Final Fantasy Tactics, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga). When it all comes down to it I'd prefer to play on my SP though.

Wario Ware Inc, Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, Mario Golf and Mario Kart Super Circuit are all excellent. Special nod to Wario Ware Inc (which has a GCN counterpart for multiplayer mayhem).

The graphics hold up well even on a big screen and sometimes gameplay is better with the GC controller. (Iridion II, Warioland 4 etc..) and you can use a wireless wavebird controller :)
I don't think you will find a negative review of the Nintendo brand GBA player
BTW if you are an old school gamer and you go with this setup you should get a copy of Activision Anthology GBA its a blast on the GBA player.

Thanx for your replies and suggestions!
Just wasn't sure if buying a GC and Player (apx 150.00?)
was going to be worth it,without really buying any GC games, except for the midway treasures and maybe some of the others mentioned.

I did a search before posting, and read nothing but good things, was just curious if anyone had seen the games I mentioned (potd/aos) on a larger screen-in person.

I was also considering one of the "arcade x" controllers with the real arcade buttons/joysticks and pinball buttons on the side-any thoughts on those?
I know the wvbird is considered a "must have" but those handhelds just don't give me that real feel :)

Thanx again,as always a great group of people here.
Here daily,but rarely post :o

Cheers! jefff

Pinball Of The Dead feels less responsive to me on the player than the GBA.

And it's much more pixelated as well, still fun to play though.

Did you ever have the Super Gameboy for the SNES? It played GB games thru the SNES. They graphics are nothing to write home about, but I think the increased visibility overcomes any issues with graphical quality.

As an aside, I've played some GBA games thru the GB player that almost look like a SNES game. There are a lot of good games on the GCN so I don't think it would be a bad investment.

I've never seen a GBA game that didn't look great on the GB Player. I've hardly touched my GBA since I got the player when it came out, as I bought the GBA for 2D games not the portability.

I have that same arcade controller, but I've never been able to get the pinball buttons to work on a console...
