USB Flash Drive for PS2

I was looking around the web and cam across something called the MAX Drive for the PS2 which seems to be essentially a 16mb USB Flash Drive that you can use on your PS2 to save games and transfer them to your PC. This seems like a good way to back up saves and bring them to a friends house, but its $30. This seems rather expensive for only 16mb and the PS2 drivers. Wouldn't it be possible to get a 128mb card for around $25 and put the drivers onto that one?

Although I doubt that it will work, I'll pop my 128 MB flash drive into the PS2 and maybe I can do something with it. I'll report back on my findings.

I'm not familiar with the Max drive product but the Pelican Codebreaker version 8.0 works with many standard USB drives for transferring saves to and from memory card and of course once they're on the USB drive you can transfer them to and from your PC. The Codebreaker web site also has cheat codes you can download to the USB drive and use on the PS2 within the Codebreaker program (saves a lot of typing). The Max drive is probably similar. I don't know of any products that allow the use of a USB drive for saving directly from games.

Here is a link to the max drive which calls it a usb flash drive. I know there are other similar products that allow you to transfer saves between the ps2 memory cards and usb devices so I would think there must be some drivers preloaded onto these devices that could be put onto any flash stick and do the same thing.
