Help please - Gamecube game suddenly has menu in Japanese!?!

We have a normal U.S. gamecube, not modded in any way. We've owned the normal U.S. super smash brothers for months, and have played it extensively. Suddenly, this morning, the main menu (1 player, versus, etc.) and subsequent menus all appear in Japanese. I have no idea how or why.

Turning the gamecube on and off didn't fix it. I did try another game (super monkey ball) and its menus were still in English.

Anybody have any suggestions for how to fix this game's menus? Or suggestions for anywhere else on the internet to seek help?

Someone might have accidently changed it in the games menu. You should be able to change it back through the game's menu. Only problem is finding the the right option while its still in Japanese.

I didn't know there was a menu option to do that, thanks, that is very helpful. Can someone now do me the tremendous favor and turn on their super smash brothers and tell me, screen by screen, which options to select to get english back (e.g., 3rd choice down, then 5th choice down, etc.)

It shouldn't be that hard to find the option to turn the text back into english, just work your way through the menu and keep your eyes open for 'english'.

Thanks everybody, fixed it. Puzznic telling me it was an option in the menu just made me realize, its reading the language chocie from the memory card. So I started the game without the memory card in, voila, English again, allowing me to find the right menu & memorize its location.

Thanks again.

Well duh, you're turning Japanese, I really think you're Japanese, I really think so.
