NES SP Classic Series - The One and Only

Looks like they are already in stores. There have been sighting at Wal-Mart, GameStop, EB, Best buy... My store is suppose to get them either today or tomorrow.

- The cartridges are a light grey colored. Much like the original NES games

- The SP is a white/grey color (not platinum like most pictures show)

- The 'control pad' has a rubbery grip like the original NES controllers (If you have used one, you what I mean)

- The NES games are... Zelda, Mario Bros, Pac-Man, Xevious, Excitebike, Donkey Kong, Excite Bike, Ice Climbers.

- Each game has a battery back-up save.

Retail is $99.99 for the system, $19.99 for each game

Current Trade-In deals...
EB - Trade in a regular Advance and ANY two games and get the SP for $49.99.
EB- Trade-In ANY Sp color (with the AC Adapter) and get the NES Sp for $39.99
Game Crazy - Trade in ANY Sp (with AC) and get the NES SP for $49.99

So what's everyon getting? I am getting two NES SPs and Zelda. I might get Mario...but I already have the Deluxe version for GBC. The other games I have on E-reader (well, except for Bomberman and Xevious).

I'm passing as I never touch my plain GBA since getting at GB Player, and $20 is way too much for NES games IMO. They should have put them all on one cart for $40 or something.

I'm picking up the SP for sure tomorrow if I can find it. Might get another in a week or so. The pictures are excellent. I'll prbably get Zelda as well, the rest I'm not too interested in and may pick them up if them hit clearance prices or something but only as collectibles.

I'm holding out for the DS, I'll pick the NES games up when they are a lot cheaper ($5 or possibly $10). We already have 3 SP's in the house.

Normally I would surely be buying this, except that with the DS coming out later this year I might as well wait. Still, it's cool as hell and it's hard not to be tempted to splurge.

Picked mine up from Wal*Mart today... $99.77!

Its great! I have an Indigo GBA ($50 from the Overstock Deal in 2002) so when I saw this a few months ago, I decided then that I would upgrade.

I went to BB but they didn't have them in, and GS said they were in tomorrow's order (so I picked up Ultimate Card Games for the wife) so headed to Wal*Mart to do some other shopping, but saw they had about 20 in stock, and I was the first person to purchase one. The cashier oggled the box since she hadn't seen one yet. The had Ice Climbers, Zelda, Super Maro Brothers, Donkey Kong, Excitebike, and Bomberman there as well ($19.87 @).

So far I love the SP, the backlit screen is great and the rubberized feel is wonderful.

The design is so nostalgic, how could anyone my age (30) pass it up!?

Now I can get back to Metroid Zero Mission, Zelda: A Link to the Past and Yu-Gi-Oh: The Sacred Cards!

Later.... gotta go play!

By the way, can someone suggest a good case for the GBASP?

Just picked up Zelda (already have it in Animal Crossing and the Zelda Collectors Edition but oh well). I may trade in a Jap. SP for the Classic, I just have to see if the wife wants my black Jap. and I'll trade in her cobalt Jap.

Does your store manager know you took the mock-up home? So are all the carts grey? Shouldnt Zelda be gold?

Do you guys/gals think this is a good deal? Also do the systems/games need to be complete with boxes?

$10? These are official Nintendo products, I very much doubt they will EVER it $9.99 (WHat Nintendo product has ever got $9.99 or below?) being that they are LIMITED, and won't be produced for much longer (They will be retired in a couple of months, like they did in Japan).

I will definately pick up Zelda, since it is one of my all time favorites. I might pick up another title or two but have not decided for sure yet. If my Best Buy gets them early, I will probably use the GGC to get them @ 14.99.

Zero, did your store get a mock-up? We got a box with 5 shirts, scratch and sniff stickers, and lanyards. No fake SP. I wish!

If these things were 9.99 I would go out and pick up the entire set tonight. But if they are going to be "retired" I might just go and buy the entire set anyways.

I never played the NES version of Excitebike, but I loved it in the arcade when I was a kid. So how is this version?

Excitebike for NES has identical graphics to the arcade version. The NES version doesn't have the ability to get the super-bike that doesn't overheat.

Damn that thing looks cool. I don't have an SP but I might has to splurge for my birthday. The DS is right around the corner but I'm not huge on portable gaming (would use it at home). Plus with an PS2, Gamecube, X-Box, and PC when would I find the time.
