Who else has this problem with MVP Baseball?
 

I've played so many games with all different teams and player and on different difficulty levels but I simply can't hit a homerun with a left handed batter!!

Does anyone else have this problem? I seriously cant even hit a homerun with a left in the homerun derby. I can hit homeruns with right handed pitchers that are up to bat, but when it comes to leftys even the best can't get much power. I've switched to just managing and simulating because its so frustrating having 80 plus homeruns with some right handers and 0 with left handers.

I know for a fact that in all the games Ive played I have a whopping grand total of 1 homerun ever hit by a lefty.

Everybody has this problem.

Well, actually it's everybody who plays a console version of the game. EA patched their mistake on the PC version.

Having the same problem but didn't know its fixed in the PC Patch. Guess i'll have to download it =)

so nothing to fix the ps2 problem?

a glitch this big, thats surely going to get people to stop eyeing the ESPN games that keep getting better and better and closer to the EA games

I can hit homers perfectly fine with lefties. I dont know what you guys are doing wrong. I can actually hit more homers on the left side, then the right side.

I'm not sure why i can't... for instance, i drafted my own team and Arod has 40 homers through about 45 games, while Delgado only has 6. Shrug.

Same here....Corey Patterson can light it up for the Cubs!!! :)

Here's a quick question, on the left side, does it matter who is pitching? Is it harder for you guys to hit a lefty or a righty when batting on the left side?

I'm wondering if maybe the people who can hit HRs with lefties got a copy of MVP with that problem fixed. When did you all buy the game? I got mine the day it came out.

Since I started this thread I did research into this problem and EA did in fact have a glitch on the PS2 where the physics of hitting were all screwed up. So maybe they ended up fixing it in later copies of the game?

It's pissing me the hell off because if I ever want to play I have to draft a team of righties or trades the left handed power away. Other than that I have to settle for managing and simulating.

I really don't get how a company like EA cant figure this out. Don't you think in the testing someone might have figured hmmmm I've hit 50 500 foot HRs with this crappy right hander and my power hitting lefty has 1 375 foot HR?

It's more dificult with lefties - you really have pull them.

I actually seemed to hit more homers with lefties then righties....strange....

I would say it is harder to hit a lefty from the left side. That is how it should be. That is realism at it's best which is why I love this game so much. I really cannot remember who I hit them off of but I would bet Corey Patterson hit them off of righties. Also.....I usually do not try and pull the ball. I read a post where someone stated they were doing this.....I simply keep my analog control pushed up or up and to the right but never to the right when hitting for power. I have also hit a home run without hitting for power when Sammy Sosa was at the plate. :)

I'm playing a season/franchise with Boston, and have hit numerous home runs with Ortiz, Damon, and Mueller. All lefties. Not sure what to tell ya. Just keep trying.

I can hit homers with lefties, but they don't seem to have the same power as righties. I am also playing a season with Boston. I can hit 500+ ft homers with Manny, and I don't think I've gotten anything close to 500 with my lefties.

Totally agree. I should have made that point in my last post. I think I've hit a few with Manny that went over 550 feet. With Ortiz, Mueller, etc...they normally only go around 400 or so at the most. It's all just timing though. I've found that I've been able to hit fastballs out of the park with lefties, but when they throw stuff off-speed, I normally pop them up.

Giambi has 6 through about 100 games, Sheff has 40.

The biggest difference I had was one season on the lowest difficulty level ARod hit .625 with 93 HRS and 200 something RBI while Carlos Delgado hit .400 something with 0 HRS and 80 something RBI

What a shame....I'm going to be renting ESPN and MVP Baseball next season before I decide.
