I had a recorded message from Gamestop on my answering machine about this. It looks pretty cool.

I sent this link to a friend of mine, and this was his response:

"Seeing the Halo 2 case makes me feel all funny- like when I used to climb the rope in gym class."

Just placed my pre-order. Knew that I was hanging onto that $50 EB store credit for some reason.

So will this cost more than the regular and/or require a pre-order?

I just finished Halo, and thought it was just ok, not great. I'll definitely pick up the sequel, but I don't want to pay more than $45 w/ best buy coupon. And I don't want to preorder because I want to wait and see what Nintendo has coming out this fall (Metroid Prime 2, new Zelda etc) as I might not have room on my gaming slate for Halo 2 and would then hold off on buying it and keep looking for a deal or trade in the forum.

Of course it will cost more that the regular version. They could charge $200 and it would be well worth it.

You're obviously not a huge console FPS fan (or you would have to agree that Halo is incredible), so just wait a year or so after release and it will be $30 somewhere like Halo1 was.

The rest of us, we'll be online playing Halo2 everyday from 11/9/04 until we die.

It's $54.99 as opposed to $49.99. So for the extra $5 (or $10 with BB coupon), you get the limited tin, the bonus DVD with all those features and will probably own one of the very few true "Collector's items" in the realm of video games (much like the recent Halo Xbox console. Check out what that is selling for today on ebay).

I expect this baby to sell for $75 or more by next summer, so if you're just planning on playing for a while and then ebaying it, this would be the smart way to go.

Of all the genre's I like enough to play at least a few titles here and there, FPS is at the bottom of my list.

I'll probably wait like you say, especially since I abhor online gaming and won't play the multiplayer modes at all.

I used to think I'd hate Xbox Live, but I'm actually enjoying it, although I play rarely.
I think it is worth the $30 a year (if you shop around) just for the content downloads.
Nothing beats 2 or more player gaming in my living room, but Xbox Live works surprisingly well. I have a couple friends with it, and the games we play are as if we are in the same room. And even gaming w/ strangers is growing on me.

Josh, you don't have to worry about Zelda, it's coming in 2005. Word that I'm hearing is that the LE Halo 2 is a limited-time deal because lots of people will probably jump on it. I'd give it 3 months at most before they close down pre-orders on it. As for regular Halo 2 I'm sure there will be tons available on Nov. 9th.

Anyone else here think that Josh Hinkle doesn't actually have an opinion, he just scans threads for the general consensus, posts the opposite, then whines about being flamed all the time?

I am actually very excited about this game. I didn't even like the first one too much, due to its repetitive level design. I will be preordering this one though, and I think multiplayer through live is going to be a blast!

I just hope the level design isn't as bad as the first one.

I didn't find anything wrong with the level design of Halo.. but I don't play PC FPS games so I may not have a basis of comparison.

Um no. I just don't like most mainstream, super popular games (i.e. GTA series) thus my opinions are different from most people that post here.

The problem is there's a lot of people here that have to flame everyone who's opinion differs from their own. I couldn't care less if someone doesn't like a game I love. I don't see why people get their panties in a bunch because I think Halo is just ok because I don't like FPS's much or what not.

Halo was a very good game, but not the greatest game ever made to me personally, as it is to others. Still, I'll definitely be buying the sequel.

I was just curious about the cost of this LE version, as it's not something I'd pay extra for, but something I'd get if it was just a free bonus for preorders (like the bonus discs Nintendo's given away with some preorders for instance.

I just got sick of going through areas that looked the same, which was compounded later in the game by having to go through the same areas again to get back to the ship.

I liked Halo, I'll probably get Halo 2...

I could care less if it's in a cardboard box or that ugly tin

Exactly, half of the time I would just get confused about where to go next, just because it all looked the same and I wouldn't be sure of where I have already been.

If they kept everything the same, and just made it so the levels weren't so redundant and repetitious, I would be happy with it.

Yeah, the interior areas were a bitch in that regard. For a while you could tell, because there would be enemies. But if you miss the door your supposed to go through after killing all the enemies in the area, you're just stuck in a maze where everything looks the same and with the same dead enemies laying around.

But I'm with you, I just hope they change that. The rest was fine. Though I wouldn't mind to see some more varied enemies as well.
