Growlanser: Generations

Anyone looking forward to this title? I don't really know too much about it, but the pictures look pretty cool. Working Designs is publishing it, so I am hoping for good things. It actually includes Growlanser 2 + 3.

Looks like an anime game so 95% chance it's PS2.

I've heard of the series before, I think a game came out in the US once for Genesis or Turbo Grafx.. it's a long running series in Japan. Might have to check back into it, I'm always good for some classic style RPG.

I've never heard of this game before, but from looking at those screen shots, it seems like exactly what I've been looking for. I love RPG's but hate (for the most part) how they're all more about the flashy graphics rather than the style and game play on the new systems. I just finished Suikoden 1 again, and started up Final Fantasy Tactics. Gotta love the PS1 RPG selection.

hmmm.... to get the deluxe version or not... I'm not sure that stuff is worth an extra $40, but it does look cool:

Thanks jimbo... so the deluxe pack isn't free after all, another $40 for all the extras.

I have the Lunar I & II and the Arc the Lad packs, will have to think about this one. Hopefully, TRU gets it since I have creds there.

Does TRU usually get in the deluxe packs? I have a decent amount of credit there also...

I got both Lunar Packs there, and I saw Arc the Lad collection there also. Hopefully, they get this pack too.

"Credits" as in store credit or gift cards.

Course credits. We're all getting our degrees from Toys R Us. I'd explain but I'm late for my Fungineering class.

Actually, the people who made this game was a bunch of ex-employees that made the Langrisser series. That series was popular because of the awesome story and character designs by Satoshi Urushihara. The Growlanser series have nothing to do with Langrisser, other than the character designs are by the same artist. The graphics are kind of dated, but the gameplay is pretty up there with Langrisser, although I personally still prefer the strategic elements of Langrisser.

Yeah, Warsong (Langrisser 1) for the Genesis was one of the best game I've ever played. Too bad they didnt' bring out the rest here in the US.

Wow, this is an old thread....

Saw the ad for this game in the latest EGM. At first, I was excited because I thought it was Langrisser... Considering the popularity of games like FF Tactics, Advance Wars, and Fire Emblem on the GBA, you'd think they'd be bringing over long-time Japanese strategy rpgs like langrisser and Sakura Wars, but I digress...

Anyway, I think it's coming out soon. I don't think I'll spend the extra 40 for the special edition, but I am looking forward to it, despite my current backlog of rpgs. I'm still on Arc the Lad 1!

The one thing I hate about Working Designs is how they liberally change the translations of games... I hope they don't do much besides add some voices.

Waiting for Working Designs to finish a game can be a long wait. This one looks like it will be pretty good though. I bought both of their Lunar sets and enjoyed the heck out of them.

Working Designs is really bad when it comes to release date. One delay after another and another. I really want to play this game, but I'm not holding my breath.

October 19th appears to be the latest release date- its looking good as a strategy RPG title. I love how those games still use old fashion 2d type graphics, I cant stand all these new RPG's that play like adventure games.
