Anyone get the limited edition Halo Bundle Xbox?

I broke down and traded my old xbox for the limited edition. I felt kind of dumb doing it especially since I lost all my game saves but I have to admit that I'm a sucker for limited editions (don't know exactly how many are being made) and the see through green is really sweet. It also looks to have the better drive in it as I had one of the older drives and it had problems reading some of the newer games and froze up sporadically. I got $101.50 for Halo and the Xbox and I had to pay the difference ($169.00 plus tax sticker price).

Anyone else get this bundle? Impressions?

I'd do the same thing as you, but I don't want to lose my game saves. Then again, I guess I could transfer them to a memory card.

Almost all saves...iirc KOTOR can't be transferred and any paid DLC from Xbox live would have to be re-purchased since it is linked to serial numbers of the xbox and not the gamertag (or so I have read on the xbox forums).

No but I have a strange desire to play Halo (again). I know a lot of people don't understand the fascination with Halo and it certainly has some problems (wasn't I just here?), but IMO Halo is the game that will make you forget about any second thoughts regarding an Xbox purchase.

Just a little message for anyone on the fence.

I have GTA III and Vice City saves, and ESPN NBA, MLB, and NHL saves among others that I'd want to transfer.

There are only 200,000 being made.

I have one here, but am undecided on whether to keep it and "upgrade it" or just take it back since i already have a regular one.

No wonder Bill Gates is so rich, he can get some of you to buy anything...

Why isn't the black xbox good enough?

it's not a question of good enough. if you don't understand why people collect anything, then you probably won't get it. (heh, double meaning there )

personally, i'm sick of "green" for the xbox (heh, another one!). i'm not a fan of halo, but maybe they should have waited for halo2 and bundled that w/ this one.

Well it makes sense if your Xbox is on its last legs.....mine is only about 6 months old, and it seems to be sputtering.

How much is a good memory card to transfer saves?

I am seriously thinking of getting it, but I am almost positive my crappy Gamestop's/EB's won't have any of them.

Nick, check out this thread for the best, most economical way to back up Xbox game saves. This week, Target is selling the Lexar 128 MB Jumpdrives for $29 each, that will hold about 7900 blocks of memory and works beautifully (I just got mine tonight). Another way to go is seen on this site. They have individual 64 MB cards for $14.99. They also have USB cables for $7.99. They're a good retailer; I got my cable from them and they where very prompt with the shipping. If you're going to switch over to a new Xbox, that's the way to go.

BTW: Costco.com is selling that XBOX Halo bundle for $163, but I don't know what shipping will run you.

Thanks, Decker. I'll check it out. I wonder if Costco carries them in-store?

Anyone know?

How much is the bundle? The guy from gamestop told me that it was $149 but that you had to preorder it.

I was thinking about it.

Or maybe I should get one, sell it on ebay, and buy a regular XBox and a whole bunch of games.

It's $169

The regular Xbox is $149, he must have thought you meant that.

My limited edition xbox just arrived about an hour ago. Unfortunately I am at work and don't have the time to hook it up to the tv in the conference room.

It is much better looking than in the pictures I have seen online of it. This is my first xbox, normally I am a ps2 kinda guy.

Anyone see the ads for the Crystal Xbox? All in clear plastic, including the controllers. Don't know how limited they are, but I haven't seen them for sale, only as a prize giveaway on competitions.

Personally I wish the blue clear DOA xbox came out here, that is the one I would have totally jumped on. I set up my Halo bundle xbox today. I liek the look of it a lot. I wish it glowed more to show off the clear green, but otherwise it is pretty damn nice.

Got mine today. The green theme of the Xbox has always disgusted me, but I really like the style of this system. Now I can finally play PDO, Shenmue II, and the other Xbox games that have been sitting on my shelf for ages(always picked up games whenever a good deal, like $9.99 came around), and try out KOTOR, etc.
