i am interested in the answer to this as well. i love zelda, but would primarily only play this single player....

I've been having fun single player. The battles are immense, the puzzles are creative (require thought) and I don't have to worry about competition. I can imagine how insane multiplayer is with Link's battling to collect Force Gems, but now I'm enjoying the single play experience. BTW there is no leveling up ie; you lose all the stuff you accumulated when you start a new level. I played a beach level yesterday that had Shadow Link throwing HUGE Windwaker bombs that caused the whole screen to go up in smoke (you had to evade by jumping to GBA). Nice.

The game is definitely fun with just the single player mode, but if the first two levels are an indication of how the rest of the game will be, you'd probably beat it pretty quickly. After that, I don't know how much you'd like to play the game. I've had a chance to play with 2 and 3 players as well, and the game is definitely more hectic. I almost don't want to continue on with the single player mode so I don't ruin the surprises of the upcoming levels when my friends come over to play.

Back to your question, if you have a lot of time to play, then you're probably better off renting the game, since I think it can be beat in about a week.

This game is a sequel to A Link from the Past.

If you liked A Link to the Past, you should like this game on single player.

This reminds me a lot of A Link to the Past and Links Awakening. A lot like old school gaming mixed with some new.

I enjoy it.

Not as great as A Link to the Past so far (my favorite), but stands well on it's own anyways. One of the better for me. Reminds me more of the old adventures than games like Wind Waker. But, I actually am enjoying this better than Wind Waker, so for me thats good.

frys has zelda 4 swords for $34.99, that is pretty hot deal consider the link cable by itself is 9.99 at walmart and 14.99 at bestbuy.

My brother was able to price match this at TRU with a San Jose Mercury at the Aptos CA TRU. Hopefully he got my email and will be bringing mine later today...

Thanks for the responses. I think I'll hold off until there is a price drop or I can get a used copy for fairly cheap.

I have a couple of questions regarding multi-player:

- If two human players play, who controls the other two characters? Does player one control both, each player controls a second, or does the game give you the option to choose who controls which?

- Do all players need a Gameboy Advance in multi-player mode? I have one friend who does not have one but would still like to play. I doubt this is possible, but since single player could be played without the GBA I thought I would ask.

To begin the level, each player controls a second Link. However, if a human player picks up the second Link from the other human player, then that Link joins the first human player so that he has 3 Links (does that make sense?).

Any multiplayer requires a GBA for each player. So no, you would not be able to play multiplayer in your situation.

beated the game with 4 players, what an awesome game; i dont know how one player solves the puzzle in one player mode. i was pondering if one player mode, does the puzzles will be different than the one with multi players mode.

In 1-player mode, you control all 4 Links. You can either have them move as a group or individually.

I beat the game in single player, and i'm up to the 4th level in multiplayer. So far, there have been slight changes to some of the puzzles. Still very similar, but they are changed.
