Battlefield 1942 help needed.
 

I just installed Battlefield 1942 and then I installed the 1.6 patch and the game stopped working. Now I have it patchless but there are no servers that work now. Can anyone tell me what i need to get? Thanks.

I haven't played it in awhile, but perhaps you have to patch in steps - start with the first patch and go up to the current one. Alternatively, the reason it doesn't with the new patch could be due to your video card drivers being out of date - try updating those and see if that fixes it.

Which patch is the first patch.

It keeps saying "Map not found" when I try and start the game.

go to file planet and look at what are the essential files.


Honestly i have mine updated and it still runs like crap on my system.

You can get the full 1.6 version....but you can also d/l it in steps.

1.3 to 1.4, 1.4 to 1.5, etc.


What map are you trying to play?

Also - there's a few different 1.6 downloads - some are for servers and others are for clients (you) and some are complete and some are just updates to the last set of patches.

Ok I got the 1.6 thing and its still saying Map not found.

Umm.. are you trying to play on a server with a custom map per chance?

No it wont work on any server I go to.

Are you checking to see what map is being played on these servers?

Yes. I've tried about 20 different servers. The maps for those servers are default maps. My game still says map not found.

Are you able to play single player?

Yes.

Have you tried reinstalling and then installing the full 1.6 patch?

Yeah, several times.

I tried that. It still doesnt work.

What game interface are you using?

In game? Gamespy? All Seeing Eye?


I'd say uninstall and do a clean reinstall but I'm guessing you've already done that.

I've tried in game (which doesnt show any servers at all) and Gamespy.

A friend of mine is having the same problem. Hasn't been able to play since 1.6 came out. He just switched to BF Vietnam so he won't being playing 1942 for awhile.

Havent installed it yet, but I'll be on the watch for it. My computer is in a moving truck :( Should be here in 2 days.
