Yet another supposed Xbox price drop
Dunno if this is a repost, or if the old thread is still around but anyway....
Someone over at CAG is saying he/she saw a Wal-Mart ad that says the Xbox will be $149 in April. Could be an early April Fools joke, you never know.
I haven't heard much else about this so it's probably bogus.

The guy posted an image of the ad, looks legit. Just remember, this will NOT come with any free games...the current deal (2 free ones) are still $180, and some stores still have them. I assume Sony will follow suit within days.

Sounds pretty reasonable. I thought maybe around May, for E3.
Retailers usually place orders a month in advance (at least they did when I was in retail) so April might be a possibility. Have to wait and see.

Someone at CAG just posted a link to a couple of articles that say the price drop is confirmed, and will take effect between March 28th and April 1st. Supposedly Wal-Mart will be the first to lower the price, as we saw in the picture of the ad.
So good news if you were planning on buying an Xbox. I wonder if PS2's will remain $179, or drop to $149 also.

edit: although - that could change if Sony does something drastic.

I remember (still happens) before Xbox came out all this talk about no kiddie games and no colored consoles like Nintendo.
Where are they now? Got a few colored controllers here in the US with a new Green Xbox. A half dozen color schemes overseas. Not to mention they buy Rare for $300 mil or something outrageous so they can have some kiddie games.
How things change when you want to sell a few extra consoles.
