The Hobbit is a surprisingly fun and addicting game.

I bought the PS2 version from toysrus.com for $10 (it's still available using a coupon code) not expecting much, and I really like it. From a technical standpoint the game could use a lot of polish, but the levels are fun, huge, and varied, and the pace is great. The game is neither too easy nor too difficult, but seeking out every last collectible is definitely a challenge. The play mechanics are simple and intuitive, and the graphical style, while not fully realized, suits the subject matter. I recommend checking it out if you like simple 3D action-adventure games.

Any reference to the coupon code? Is the coupon available for other consoles?

I love this type of game, so it's on my "to try" list.. problem is I have this HUGE backlog I'm trying to go through now, and yet, I can't stop playing Metroid Zero Mission.

Use coupon code 910493 at checkout. Make sure you buy from toysrus.com and not from another Amazon vendor or the code won't work. The code only works for the PS2 version.

Thanks for the info but it didn't seem to work for me:

We're sorry, but the promotional code you entered cannot be applied to this purchase. Please refer to your promotional coupon for information about item or store restrictions.
Maybe others will have luck w/ it.

I think you'll like it. The best part for me is that at any given moment, you can look around and see three or four areas containing optional treasures that you have no idea how to reach. First you have to explore until you figure out how to get there, and then you have to actually perform all the jumps without dying (you can't just save anywhere, so you'll have to make it back to a save point alive). I love that sense of exploration. I haven't been able to get 100% treasures on any level yet, though I've come close several times. Unfortunately, most of the things you can buy are neither useful nor exciting, so the collection aspect is mostly for pride.

I gave you the wrong code--sorry!! The right one is 910493. I'm not even certain that it will work, but I'm certain that the first one won't. Good luck.

Just wanted to say I finished this yesterday. You're right it was an enjoyable game, the camera angles gave me problems occasionally but not to the point where it was unplayable. Thanks for the recommendation (and the coupon ).
