Friend just picked up an X-Box and we are looking for good games that have either player vs player and co-op play. So far we liked Halo and unreal.

If you can overlook some slightly dated graphics, TimeSplitters 2 has some great co-op and deathmatch gameplay.

Wolfenstein has split screen multiplayer co-op.

I guess I'll be the first to state the obvious, but Halo is the best co-op game I have played for XBOX. It's multiplayer versus is lacking very much though. For deathmatches I would go with either Timesplitters 2 or XIII.

Brute Force is okay. Mech Assault is good.

If it doesn't necessarily have to be a shooter some other good ones are: D&D Heroes, Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance I/II, Hunter: the Reckoning, Lord of the Rings Return of the King.

I'll second LOTR:ROTK. That game in co-op kicks ass. I still think Halo is the best, but it is also very good.

lotr:rotk is very hard even with co-op play.

i like batman rise of tsu, pretty fun co-op, but i dont like the time limits it enpose on the level u need to finish under certain amount of time.

Gladius is another strategy/rpg type game with a good co-op mode. My friend and I play this for hours at a time.

My buddy and I always look for games we can play together -- from Playstation's Jedi Power Battles to Xbox's sweet LOTR: Return of The King. We have never played Halo though (I know, blasphemous), is it split screen? Without hijacking this thread any other titles would be appreciated...

Wolfenstein is... R6 and Counterstrike need to have 2systems and 2 copys of the game...no biggie. Its not like any other system has these two great games.

I know I"m in the minority on this one but for a different kind of 2 player challenge try CIRCUS MAXIMUS.

One person drives the chariot while the other smacks opponents over the head and assists in tight turns by leaning at the right moments in the right direction based on the turn.

Something different from shoot 'em up games.

Its all about halo. after you finish the game play capture the flag or one of the other options.

I'll second Circus Maximus to being a pretty fun co-op experience.

The new Bond game has coop play as well, and looks awesome, and plays very good too.

Yes, but it's exactly like this : Rainbow Six 3 will come out soon for the PS2 with online play and new levels. I would suspect that, like Splinter Cell before it, the graphics will take a hit, though.
