I only have a GameCube and I'am very happy with it. I'am a casual gamer and don't see the need for all three systems. The only thing I miss are the RPG's, but I get those on my GameBoy.

Xbox: 12.89 million GC: 14.36 million The situation is interesting to watch in Japan. PS2 is the undisputed king along with the GBA SP. Gamecube is gaining a lot of steam due to some major rpgs coming along with Nintendo Franchises and Biohazard (Resident Evil), X-Box is a lost cause over there, it was being outsold by the PSOne for 6 months in a row, Microsoft is no doubt playing their cards carefully now and trying to keep with their markets that they are doing well in (US). Check out these weekly numbers for Jan. 12 through 18 in Japan: Playstation 2- 60,202/ total 372,945 GBA SP- 41,305/ total 286,197 Gamecube 19,289/ total 167,034 GBA 8,177/ total 55,684 Xbox 1,163/ total 5,441 regardless, a lot of people are spending money on video games. :) |

Originally posted by msdmoney Wow everyone in the world must have like ten of these, including the third world peoples. And I still don't have one. Those numbers for the XBox in Japan really suck -eek- They really have almost no base to build on for the XBox2. I wonder if they will pass on Japan next time. |
Originally posted by White Knight I recall hearing that stores had a suplus of GC :-/ Not sure if that's true or not... |
Originally posted by jeffdsmith I suppose it easier to "overstock" an item when the box that contains it is 1/4 the size of competitors. Geez guys the GC is small. Lets buy 2 instead. |

Originally posted by White Knight That will not be so in a few months. Once a little game called Halo 2 is released (if it ever does -wink-) |
Both the GC and X-box had a bad year IMO. The only killer exclusives for me across both were Zelda and KOTOR, with Mario Kart being ok but not a must have if you don't play multiplayer much.
But business wise it was worse for Nintendo as they dropped price and are still in 3rd and have lost some third party support. |

Rainbowsix 3 RULES!!!!!!!!!

I feel that all 3 consoles had a great year. Shit, I ended up with a PS2 that has to say something, right?
Even with all the garbage (and there was tons) 2003 was a great year for good games. |
Originally posted by Adam Tyner I see the "IMO", but Project Gotham Racing 2 also topped many "best of 2003" lists. Crimson Skies, Top Spin, Otogi, and, to a lesser extent, Voodoo Vince were also well-received. If you include temporary exclusives, Rainbow Six 3 too... Wasn't Panzer Dragoon Orta also released in 2003? I don't like tennis games, so no top spin, don't care for Devil May Cryish action games so no Otagi. I just picked up PDO, only played it for a few minutes and was underwhelmed. Don't like shooting games like Rainbow Six. I do love platformers, but Vodoo Vince got pretty mixed reviews (6-7/10 in EGM which is my most trusted review source). Not much reason to pick it up with great platformers like Ratchet and clank out there IMO. |

Yeah, Platformers, sports, RPGs, and fighting games are the only genre's I really "Love."
I play other genre's here and there, but they're never must haves for me. Also, it was the puzzle element of Vodoo Vince that turned me off from it somewhat. But I basically don't buy a ton of games each year, so I try to just get the creme de la creme of the genre's I like, so good, but not great games like Vince usually fall of the radar for me. |

Originally posted by ~~ PAL ~~ PS2: 1 hundred-billion! rotfl I made up that number for PS2, but thats what its like because they're so far ahead. Every other number is real. |
This year for Xbox I bought ESPN NBA Basketball, the GTA Double, Otogi, Panzer Dragoon, Halo (I got the Xbox last year), and Tony Hawk 2x. Otogi was mediocre. I didn't like KOTOR. Crimson Skies was fun but not worth owning IMO. The only other game I liked was Armed & Dangerous and I'll wait for a price drop. I don't have Xbox Live so PGR 2 and Rainbow 6 have no interest to me. On Gamecube this year I picked up 1080, Billy Hatcher, F-Zero GX, Go Go Hypergrind, Zelda: WW, Zelda: WW preorder (free), Zelda Collectors Edition (free), Mario Golf, Mario Kart (with free bonus disc), Pac Man Vs.(free), PN 03, Prince of Persia (progressive scan and free Splinter Cell), Soul Calibur, Star Wars: RS III, Viewtiful Joe, THUG and Wario World. The Gameboy Player adds a bunch more.

For your next purchase, I recommend an ENTER key for your keyboard.

Originally posted by White Knight That makes no sense. Due to the size retailers purchased more GC? Is that what you're saying? Retailers are ordering GC by size and not quantity? Geez guys the GC is small. Lets buy 2 instead. I work at walmart at nights and have also worked for target, two of the larger retailers. Both Gamecube and Xbox recieve the same amount of display area for hardware and software. (Software is displayed at eye level with hadware below.) At both stores we request the numbers of units to fill the space below. This allows us to have to order less often and it keeps the display looking nicer as we don't have to shuffle boxes around as much. (facing of product.) A reason we sometimes do overstock our GC's beyond the shelf capacity is because they are smaller. If we order 1 or 2 to many we know we can find space for them so when we do order we often order more then we can offically stock in ithe GC section. The hope is we will sell through a couple before the stock arrives. Typically we simply use the GBA/GBASP cabinet for those extra units. PS: Walmart is evil for reasons not related to this thread. I suggest NOT working there. |
