Online video game cataloguing?
So I have been using guzzlefish to list my dvd/cd/video game collection but lately as far as games are concerned they have fallen very behind. They don't even have Mario Kart Double Dash yet and I filled out the form to have it added over a month ago. There are also many other games missing. Are there any other sites for cataloguing video game collections preferably with dvds and cds as well? I would like to find an all in one site like guzzlefish that is updated.

ign.com
Look in the left hand column for My Collection under the IGN Services header written in bold . I don't think it does DVD's but try DVD profiler for that. You can find it here in alot of peoples sigs. ign sucks in so many ways, but this works really well for keeping track of my games. |
Does anyone know how to get DVD profiler to print out a list. It's not under file menu.
It probably involves exporting in CSV format but I couldn't get Excel 2000 to see it. My Excel skills are pitiful however, just opening that program starts to get me confused. |

I use the export to CSV, but then you need to either show-all files or at least show .CSV files or you won't see it (actually, you can probably stick an .XLS extension on it when you export, default is .CSV).
Or you can run that report Galanthas mentioned. I think I'll try out IGN for my games, Guzzlefish is pretty poor for games (and, with the lack of updates, etc., I wouldn't be too surprised to see it just gone someday soon). |
I use a database I created.. see sig. :D

PixyJunket,
nice page. Only thing is you have to find some way to host it. I like the IGN one the best. I like how it breaks the game list into the different systems, unlike the videogametracker that ElementZ mentioned. Only problem w/ IGN though, is I sent the link to a friend via AOL IM and it asked him to log into IGN instead of just showing him my list. Does it do that with everyone? |

I started using the ING page a month ago and found it to be acceptable. The only thing that it's kinda lacking is in cataloguing older PC games.

Originally posted by PixyJunket Thanks.. I like it because it's sweet and simple. I'm going to make a few changes to it possibly, like where I can give my personal rating on each title. Don't want to have too much though, cause like I said, it's sweet and simple. Just to let you know Pixy, your collection page does not work correctly in Mozilla Firebird. It loads up as completely white (even the text) and the right frame (with your collection info) doesn't show up at all. |

Originally posted by PixyJunket Strange, try using a real browser. -wink- Seriously, it's all CSS so I couldn't tell you what the problem is. :( I like my browsers lean and mean, not bloated and slow. -wink- Oh, and 'Tabbed Browsing' is the greatest thing ever. |
www.mediachest.com lets you keep track of games, CDs, books, and DVDs. Mediachest also lets you upload images of you video game setup to show those off as well.

Re: Online video game cataloguing?
Is there any cataloging software or website for video games?
|
Re: Online video game cataloguing?
DX23, what?
Are you asking for cataloging software of video game websites? Or are you looking for websites that keep track of your games? I use IGN. |
Re: Online video game cataloguing?
I fixed the error. I'm looking for a cataloging software or website for video games.

Re: Online video game cataloguing?
So...other than IGN, is there anything at all out there (preferably in the "free" price range)? I would love to have something like DVD Profiler for my game library.

Re: Online video game cataloguing?
CAG has a relatively new cataloge feature. It works well enough to avoid the garish IGN.

Re: Online video game cataloguing?
Another vote for Cheap Ass Gamer - it works really well.

Re: Online video game cataloguing?
Cool. I'm going to try that tomorrow after I get back home from vacation.

Cool, I've been lurking around CAG for a good while, but only ever hit the deals forum. I've started cataloging my stuff there now as well. The search feature is a bit interesting on the my collection screen. Seems to work better under the add a new variation of a game to the DB screen, so on a few I've searched them there and then been able to get the name as it is in the CAG DB. |
Re: Online video game cataloguing?
wow I have been part of cag for a while and did not see that feature...it is really nice and easy...thanks!!
