Yea, everquest can be extremely addicting. I played for around 2 years but finally quit last year because it just became more of a burden than a fun game. It took way too much time out of my life, and it just got me constantly pissed off. The final straw was when someone stole a spawn that i was camping for a few hours, and the gm's did nothing. I'm happy I quit, though i still do miss it occasionaly.

Same here, I miss it every now and then, but I can't see myself ever going back.

Bah, Everquest is like everything else in the world, as long as you show self control, you won't have a problem. I went back last August after playing on and off for 4 years and I still enjoy it. Our guild is not competitive and we all work with the moto that real life comes first. If someone goes to school or has things to do, its not uncommon for them to leave for months before they return again. I play at home and whenever someone calls me, I always go out, my dvd collection still grows at a scary rate.

I might play 2 hours a night now, but what's different than sitting down and watching 2 hours of tv in the night, the only difference is that I can't join the conversations on all the ****ing stupid shows on tv. I look at it this way, if I don't play, I'll just watch tv, it comes down to the same thing.

As to answer the question though, it is addictive, to see the high end in the game at this time (new expansion in the works, might have higher end), it takes a commitment of 5-10 hours a day for the strongest guilds. I might or might not see the high end someday, but where it took them months to do so, it will take me well over a year.
