PC's look to Gamecube for design
 

I saw this yesterday on TSS and it was pretty neat, check it out.

its really tiny shaped just like the Gamecube 'cept its a full fledged PC.

And its even indigo.

And it even has a handle.

It isn't that tiny, judging by the size of the cdrom and floppy drives. Definitely not the size of a gamecube, still pretty neat though.

Nice Lan party box, like the Shuttle ones. It may be short, but it isn't that small.

Mini ATX cases have been around for a year or two, and the handle case is pretty common. Mostly its made for LAN players.

That's friggin huge and no - the idea didn't originate come from Gamecube... cube shaped gaming PCs were around in the late 90s - only in the past couple years have we seen the mini atx take off - and those aren't a cube shape, they're small though. Handles have been common on PCs for at least 6 years.

This idea didn't originate or have anything to do with the gamecube, I see where you pull the conclusion from though. Computers are getting to the point where they provide all the power the average joe needs, so instead of making computers more powerful make them smaller. Most people have no need for 4 expansion bays and 5 pci expansion slots, so these smaller pcs are just a logical evolution of the pc from a form factor standpoint. Plus they look freakin cool :), especially since everyone is so used to bulky midtowers.

yeah whoops, my bad. I didn't know about these cube PC's until I saw it on that show, I'm guessing only the hardcore PC enthusiasts have known about them because they don't get talked about a lot. Its the first PC i've seen with a handle :). When I saw the shape, color, size, and handle my mind went "Gamecube!!" They do look smaller than normal computers. I guess it turns out that it was the Gamecube that was influenced by these Cube shaped PC's. Makes sense though considering IBM and ATI helped do architecture and design for the Gamecube. Anyway I thought it was a neat article and they look pretty cool too. I hope they can get these things really small like the cube, that will be nice.

That is bigger than a midtower case... it looks like it's about twice as wide and just a bit shorter... it looks like a small server case. I've got some Boot and Maximum PC magazines from the late 90s that have ads for computers that look just like that.

Mac's Cube? Shuttle mini PC? And an assortment of mini server cases? Oh, and toasters and make up bags. Not gamecube.

Thats kind of cool. I have never seen that, I guess I live in a Microsoft world. But recently my school's library replaced all their old IBM's in the library with the new iMacs. You know the one that is has a thin swivel screen. It looks really cool and slick seeing all of them lined up, in the atrium you can see maybe 30-40 at a time :). I had to use one a few times to find some journal articles for my term paper and I must say I am impressed.

I never got one myself, they came out literally a week after I bought my tower. I was pissed. I did check it out at CompUSA though. That thing was heavy as hell. I was amazed. Probably just as heavy as a tower, but in a tiny package, not much bigger than the gamecube.

Outlaw, the cool thing was the power button. You just touched anywhere on the top. There was no button. Pretty cool idea.
