Battlestar Galactica Game review?

anyone play the Battle Star Galactica game for XBOX. I am trying to find out if it is worth a blind buy.

EGM:

6.0 | 6.0 | 5.5

Difficult game,no tutorial, and some vague mission objectives. All three reviewers seem to mention the Escort missions being frustrating.

I'm not a fan of the gaming magazines (especially EGM - immaturity seems rampant on them) - So I look for real gamers to say what they liked and didn't. They often end up being much better reviews of the actual game instead of personal stories of the reviewer's life (who cares!). Xplay(tv show) is a great example of BAD reviews.

But it's worth sitting through them to see Morgan. It so cute when she stumbles over her lines.

Battlestar Galactica is a decent space shooter that will probably disappoint hardcore fans of the show who would want more of the magic that made the show so endearing. You spend long stretches battling in deep space with a few cutscenes to explain the action, which is the opposite of the original television show. The space-shooter sub-genre has lost some steam lately with many gamers expecting more variety now that such powerful consoles are available. BSG is a throwback, basic space-shooter right inline with a game like Starlancer and nails what it set out do. The intent of this licensed product just wasn't very inspired. You get to fly Colonial vipers after all these years, they come with a few surprises and that's about it. The developers did a good job of adding some appealing tricks to fairly thin sci-fi license but this is game that probably won't be worth much more than just a quick rental.

For what it is, Battlestar Galactica is certainly an appreciable effort to do something more with its license than just offer another slapdash, underproduced game without any redeeming qualities beyond said license. Warthog has made a strong attempt to make the game's action accessible to both casual fans of the show and fans of the space combat genre. Sadly, the attempt was not entirely successful. The combination of the irritatingly tough mission structuring along with the relative simplicity of the combat ultimately makes Battlestar Galactica a bit too basic of an experience for any seasoned space combat fan, and it's too difficult of an experience for casual fans that are just looking for a simple trip down memory lane. However, if you're able to look past Battlestar Galactica's problems, there are most definitely things to like about the game, and it certainly makes for a good weekend rental.

Well I guess i will rent it and check it out. It sounds like something I would not want to own but it could provide a few hours of fun.
