Did you enter the promotion code as all upper case or all lower case? I got the same error, but it disappeared when I entered "msnshop" in all lower case.

Thanks for the heads-up...I used it to buy Super Mario Advance 4 for a Christmas present.
SSX3 isn't on the list of acceptable titles.
