Nintendo will go with IBM and ATI as last time. The GC is based of a PowerPC chip currently. Nintendo has stated several times they were very happy with both companies and would continue working with them.

MS has now gone to IBM and ATI as well. They ran into legal trouble with Nvidia for not selling as many Xboxes as they promised. Intel and Nvidia both failed to lower manufactoring costs for the MS because of low volume etc.

Sony is working with IBM as well, joshd is correct on the cell project. What that amounts to I don't know. Sony said similar things about the emotion engine that could network together into a super computer and change the world. Here we are 4 years later playing games basically the same way we did before.

Hmm...

Thanks GizmoDVD - I did not get back to the forum much after I posted. Being 24 and a gaming hobbyist - not enough time to be a true hardcore gamer - my systems have there own nice little shelf unit where they sit and never move except when the eject button is hit to change games. These things are built so teenagers can use them, I doubt my ejecting could cause them to crap out. When systems have a history of keeling over, I can not believe I was actually accused of killing them. Hell, my NES still works from when it was bought new at the release of the powerpad set. Now it has been abused and in all reality, maybe should have died years ago - If my XBox and PS2 are still working in a decade I will be shocked.

Oh, and I never said my PS2 died - I said history of - several friends have replaced theirs.

I was also talking from a PowerPC standpoint on the Sony & IBM thing as well - but I admit I know little of and really could care less about the CELL project as I have stated previosly I will only get the PS3 at some price reduced point for a few exclusives - as I did with the PS2. Just cause the masses love it does not mean its the best - simply means it sells the most.

It looks like someone recognized the error and actually reported this story correctly:

As I said before, this is not Sony hype. This, infact, is Nintendo hype.

No, IBM did with Nintendo's permission obviously.

But what does that matter, are you saying that if it was still Sony involved that it would be Sony hype, but because Nintendo was involved, it is not Nintendo hype? What type of double standard are you trying to work here?

I heard you will have to put it up side down to play it,oh wait?its all ready been done with PS1.

Honestly, what the hell are you talking about?

I NEVER said anything about this story because the whole thing appeared messed up from the beginning.

My first post was about the deals that the various manufactors had with IBM and ATI etc.

My second post was a simple question. The question was based in the fact that if IBM wants publicity then let them do it, unless its coming from Nintendo I don't see them as doing the hype; the same would apply to Sony or MS.

Again I never created a double standard. Seriously are you that bent on defending Sony all the time that you do not even recognize who is saying what?

I have no problem with you sharing your opinions and "sticking up" for Sony, but my God man either give it a rest or at least take the time to check your facts before you accuse people of things. I do not appreciate the attack.

Yes they said they could network together into a super computer and that was done (try the search button). I don't remember any Sony official saying it would "change the world" though. Anyway, unless you were playing games online and with compound voice command 4 years ago, I would have to say that we are not "playing games basically the same way we did before".

You are bashing Sony and you didn't even realize it... thanks for the laugh!

That wasn't a bash, that was a fact. Sony did say those things. How is that a bash? My god man.

Never waste time arguing with the logic of a fanboy.
