Mozilla. What do they look like for you? For me they look like the margins are
a little smaller than normal, but that's from my habit of using the hard return
(guidewriting from the old days habit). Are they coming through differently?

They look fine. Just shorter lines than other posts.

Those licenses are there to develop your charaters. It's not like getting one that gives you +100 HP is a cheat. It's there for a reason.
No no, I wasn't implying it was cheating. I just wanted to point them out in
respect to their making the game a whole lot easier than it should be (in a
sense they do exactly what overleveling would, and if players did both the
game would have zero challenge). With regards to the gambits I find that
having everyone but the leader use Enemy - Attack Leader's Target makes
the game a lot more enjoyable (ie; less tedious). I choose who to attack
first, who to heal and when, any spells to use and when and so on. I found
that the attack nearest foe gambit was actually a hinderance as in battles
where you have more than one foe, the team would break up and not take
out the more dangerous enemy (or at the very least the battles would
have more foes for a longer amount of time instead of everyone concentrating
on one to kill it faster).

One problem I think Square should have caught in testing is that an enemy
retains it's current HP level if you go out of its range, but not the area.
Due to this, many of the larger enemies can be cheated by running up to
them, hitting them, then running back out of their range (until they forget
you're there or start casting a spell that takes longer/hits less than their
physical attack). Once out of range their HP should revert to max.

Yeah, it looks like you're just manually hitting return at the end of the text box rather then letting it naturally wrap around.

Anyway, i'd rather spend 30 hours playing the main storyline and if i really like the game, i'll take the time to do some of the extras and side quests.

Gamestop and EB had their copies in yesterday for the midnight launch. I'm guessing other stores should have them today or tomorrow.

I picked up mine from CC around noon. They only had 3 copies left when I got there. I knew it would sell out at that price, and am surprised they did it, because I'm sure it would've sold anyways at $50.

meh...

If you woulda told me back in 1995 that I would be so blasé about a new FF, #12 no less, I woulda thought you'd be just as crazy as if you said a tv remake of BSG would be better than the upcoming StarWars prequels....

I wonder why I can't seem to care at all about this, as I absolutely ate up all the SNES FFs, along with 7 & 9 on the PS1.

I'll get it when its a greatest hit or if I find it on sell. I still have Dragon Warrior and Kingdom Hearts to play. Can't decide which one to do first. Though I rathter be playing FF XII. Money is biggest thing for me.

I got my copy today at best Buy. I PM'ed Circuit City's $37.99 price and also got the free art book (which comes in a DVD case, is it a disc or is there a book inside?) and the guide for around $62.

I am loving it so far, only level 3

And the story in FFX is anything but trivial and is based on the famous question posed by Dostoevsky in The Brothers Karamazov.

Also, FFVII is a pretty sharp reflection on the nature of modern, industrial society.
I though both VII and X were very good storywise (although not as deep as they'd like to be). So far, although rather slow at first, I'm really liking XII's story-centric approach rather than it be character driven.

Speaking of looking better, make sure to turn off the flicker filter in the config menu. All it does is make the visuals fuzzy.

Been playing it for 15 hours. I have never played such a horrifically bad game in my life, if only for it's wasted potential.

I'd rank them from best to worst:

VII
XII
II (American version, not sure what number it was in Japan)
III (see above)
I
X
X-2
VIII
XI
IX

Never played IV, V, and VI.

Before using anything other than items, you first need to buy its license (be it
a weapon/technique/spell or power/ability/HP boost). Weapons and armors are
located in the section at the bottom and everything else is at the top. The
next tier of a particular selection is usually (though not always) uncovered
upon buying the one prior. The icon placement on the license boards are the
same for each character, so if you find something you like on one character
you know where to look on the others. Due to this system you can equip/use
anything on/with anyone.

I couldn't disagree more. Sure it had the plot of Dragonball, but imo it was a lot
more playable than VIII, X or X-2.

IV was FF2, and VI was FF3 here on the SNES. IMO and I know I'm not alone III/VI is by far the best in the series.

I won't be able to play this until christmas time, but I have a feeling it will be the best FF I have played since 7. And I enjoyed 8 and 9 as well. Didn't think much of 10. Huge fan of Vagrant Story.

Can't wait.

I actually enjoyed IX. Here's how I would rank them:

FFVI
FFIV
FFIX
FFI
FFVIII
FFV
FFVII
FFII
FFX
FFX-2

I can't rank III because I've only played part of it on an emulator and it wasn't in english lol.

I'm only a couple of hours into XII and it's amazing! I haven't had this much fun, playing an FF game, since IX. Too early to tell if it will top VI on my list but it's off to a good start.
