I've been hosting like crazy the last couple of days... I ran each track twice: day time and nite time. Then I change track, and change class of car. Seems like a lot of people like this combo. Sometimes we all pick the same car and duke it out for 3 laps! Lots of fun!
Also, I pretty liberal with booting anyone that is annoying to the rest of the people. When you get a room full of cool people having fun, 3 hours fly by like minutes. What's funny is that of all the people that I played with, no one have bought any American Muscle car. Also, lots of people wants to drive the Super Car category so they can drive the Ferrari's. I hope you guys get your PGR2 copy soon! Thong |
Just wondering what is everyone's favorite car and track?
I'm not online yet...might be too complicated as the computer(cable internet) is upstairs and the xbox is downstairs..no idea how to connect them without 1000 wires running through the house. Thanks! |
cozmo just go wireless, I HATE THE ENZO, everyone buys tis car thinking they will be the only one with it, and give the saleen(which you dont have to waste money on) and I smoke them, my favorite track, is stockholm's speed freak, I have never come in anything but 1st when using extreme or ultimate cars.

Anyone up for a game right now? It's 7PM Central.
|
I played a bit tonight with DGC (wetwork) and had a great time.
I can safely say, this game and Links golf are the most enjoyable XBL experiences there are when you get a good group. Crimson Skies is OK but not much talking and if there is it's trash talking. |

Thanks for your reply. What product(s) do I need to go wireless? |

Finally got my copy today from ebgames. If anyone wants to play tonight and see's me online, send an invite.
gt: flashburn |
I will be getting my copy today also :D
|
Got mine last night and spent about 3 hours going through the single player challenges. I tried a game online but since I hadn't bough tany cars yet I got smoked.
The delivery was surprisingly fast. Kudos to EB's $1.99 (or free) delivery service |
I haven't bought any new cars either and I do well enough online.. just look for a match that only plays within a specific class, that way the races will be evened out. It's not important how many cars you've bought for the most part, just that you're racing against the same type.

Wow this game ROCKS so far! I only have one complaint, it seems that the custom soundtrack doesnt randomize the playlist..it just goes basically in order. That kind of sucks.

Originally posted by Sherbz You can manually adjust the playorder when you adjust the custom soundtrack. It's a real pain if you have a lot of songs though. |
Difficulty Level?
I've been meaning to get this game, but I have a few quick questions about it before I spend $50 on it. How is the difficulty level compared to Project Gotham Racing? The first game was addicting and amazingly fun, but also amazingly hard. I was discouraged easily in the first game, and it became more frustrating than fun. Am I looking at the same thing in PGR2?
I will probably only be playing PGR2 online for a month or so, and then I will revert to the single-player (as well as "local" multiplayer every once in a while) portion of the game. Do you feel it will be worth it just for the single-player? So basically I'm asking three quick questions: 1. How is the difficulty compared to PGR? 2. How are the single player and "local multiplayer", meaning, non-Xbox Live portions of the game? 3. What's the cheapest place to get it from? (I think Wal-Mart or Circuit City is selling it for $40 on Black Friday, and I think that'll be the best price, but if anyone knows a cheaper place, please reply) Thanks in advance! - Shawn |
I got mine today also, I won't be able to play until tomorrow though :D
|
I was 'walking' around in gallery mode and I noticed an Xbox Live Gallery section, so I am guessing they are going to have downloadable cars! That is going to be sweet!
edit: It is actually 3 galleries in total, probably could hold about 20 different cars. |
My copy arrived today and this game is a crapload of fun. Also, custom soundtracks are godly.
|
I have been meaning to ask...What is everyones online racing etiquette like? I haven't played online yet, but offline I usually just plow through guys (especially on the SUV races). I realize I probably shouldn't do that when playing against actual people?
|
I have a feeling I will suck at this game. Me+racing games=not very good
|
Flashburn - it depends on the other racers in the game. There's always going to be some rubbing when racing. But if it's pretty obvious if you're using them as a bumper in a turn, they'll start to bitch and moan. Some host will boot you out.

Bleh, I just tried this game, and after smashing into the wall on every turn, I have discovered that I do indeed suck ass at racing games. So with that being said, I will probably be getting rid of this game. Like I said before me+racing=no good.
|
in oxm,(so take it for what it is worth) they said that there will be DLC of cities from the first pgr and a WHOLE new car class

As far as your question goes,I would say the difficulty is about the same. The difference is in PGR 2 you get to choose how hard it'll be. For the Kudos part of the game you can decide what your time level for a game is,or how many kudos you need to pass it,etc. In a street race, you choose how good your opposition will be. 2. I haven't played multiplayer at all,but the single player is awesome. It's unfortunate they got rid of the speed cones in the kudos challenges, but the speed camera is a fair replacement. 3. Check on Ebay first. I've seen a few copies go for around $35. Failing that,CC does have a pretty good price. Good luck. This is an awesome game...you won't regret buying it. |
Originally posted by Gallant Pig There's definitely a learning curve. Have you played online? The trick is to drive slow. I then proceeded to crash into every wall on every turn. I even tried the brake but I ended up slowing down so much, there was no way I'd catch the computer car I was racing against. I was never good at racing games. The last racing game I was good at was Super Monaco GP on Genesis so many years ago. I tried all the Gran Turismo games, andd while I loved the customization, music, and graphics, I could never keep the game because unless the track was straight, I sucked ass on the turns. Any certain tips or tricks I should follow? I'll give this a few more plays over the weekend, but if I continue to stink up the track, I'll be getting rid of it. I want to keep it, you all make it sound so awesome, but I just want to be good at it :D Actually at this point I'd take halfway decent  |

For turns, make sure you take them all WIDE, and also brake into the turns and accelerate out of them. Hmm..I need to think of some more I guess... edit : Also, when you get better taking the turns normally you should try to use the handbrake (A button) to help in sliding into the turns. With turns make sure you brake ahead of time also, you need to prepare to take a turn, you can't just go flying into it. You should try taking turns as slow possible at first, and just work your way up. Another good thing to do is to download the ghost cars of other players, and watch them..see what they do and try to mimic them. Also do that with the computer. Let me know if that helps! |

Yeah brake is the left trigger, e-brake is the A button. Using a combination between the two will help you do some nice slides in turns.
|
Oh and also, go into gallery mode and you can select any unlocked car and test drive it around a fairly simple course, you should do that to help get the hang of turning. Also try with a car that has maxed points in handling, like the Spyder.
You also can use the skidmarks on the road to judge where you should turn at, those are usually the best spots. |
Re: Re: Difficulty Level?
Originally posted by cozmo I got frustrated at first with the original PGR,but once I replayed some of the tracks a few times I got good enough to get through them. I got to the kudos level where you need to race for 15 laps....can't see myself doing that...it'll take too long. 1. As far as your question goes,I would say the difficulty is about the same. One more question: I just found a nice little 10$ off coupon for Ebgames. Does anyone know if they'll price-match CC on Black Friday? That way I could get the game for 29.99$ if it works. Thanks in advance. |
