lol, she hardly has time for games, and it'd be a shame to keep a game I'd hardly play. I do like golf though, so keeping Links 2004 won't be a problem. I am just not sure I'd want a tennis game. If I hadn't gotten it for so cheap, I would have never ordered it anyway :D

I'll decide in a few days whether to keep it or not.

Anyone up for a foursome tonight? Or a matchplay game?

nickdawgy 11-17-03 11:38 AM

If my copy arrives today, I'll see if I can get on tonight sometime.

:)

Gallant Pig 11-17-03 05:10 PM

Nobody else?

The Dude 11-17-03 06:28 PM

I'm game, even after blowing a 3 foot putt to win a match not 10 minutes ago (what's the saying about getting back on the horse?)!

nickdawgy 11-17-03 06:53 PM

Darn, my copy didn't arrive today. Stupid Airborne Express.

My initial thoughts (keep in mind that I originally owned TW 2004 and got bored with it)...

1. I played for a couple of days on the Beginner setting just to get used to the controls. Now playing on Intermediate and can't imagine going to Advanced or whatever the highest setting is called.

2. Putting has been difficult so far. Though, I got better last night by using a much slower takeaway. Am I correct in assuming that each tick on the meter represents approximately 10 feet?

3. The swing is not nearly as forgiving as TW 2004. If you don't go straight back and through, you WILL hit a slice/hook. Making matters worse is the fact that the analog on my controller is slightly "askew," so it's time to replace it.

4. I'm REALLY happy that the songs in my soundtrack play all the way through. In TW 2004, a new song would start on every hole and new screen. So if you were playing a round in a tournament, you only heard about 30-45 seconds of each one. In Links, however, the songs pause in between holes/screens and finish to completion. Seems like a small thing, but it pleases me greatly.

5. I'm really looking forward to playing you guys online. My cable should be here this week and then I'll get on XBL. Should we post usernames here or is that covered in another thread?

tommy28 11-18-03 02:48 PM

It`s in another thread!

but you could also post it here!

mine is mercury28,put me on your friend list and ill look for you!

im hooked, and it`s the only game i play right now:)

nickdawgy 11-18-03 04:43 PM

Just got my copy, so I'll be practicing tonight. Hope to play you guys online soon :D

nickdawgy 11-19-03 08:06 AM

lol I suck at this. I can't even get pass the 3 par challenge on rookie tour. I keep failing the third hole :D

sjividen 11-19-03 03:32 PM

Well, I'm finally on XBL. If anybody wants to add me to their list for Links, my GamerTag is sjividen.

Gallant Pig 11-19-03 07:01 PM

sjividen, add me to your list: Bob Roberts.

The Dude 11-19-03 09:27 PM

So what level are you guys playing on; beginner, intermediate, or advanced?

Gallant Pig 11-19-03 09:33 PM

Intermediate seems to be where it's at.

The Dude 11-19-03 09:36 PM

Dig. I've been playing around on Beginner (with XBL) so far, and while it's exciting to have to birdie/eagle EVERY hole; I've been thinking about making the switch to online gaming on intermediate.

nickdawgy 11-20-03 08:32 AM

So when can we set up a game? I have only played for a few minutes, but I am liking it so far.

tommy28 11-20-03 11:40 AM

Don't feel bad, I am sure alot of people are in your situation. I have to balance my team between CS, Links 2004, ESPN Football, Basketball, and Hockey, and True Crime.

:D

Yeah, sure. Or you can add me (howzer).

:D

nickdawgy 11-20-03 01:20 PM

Oh I almost forgot, maybe want to set something up for tomorrow night around 9ish Pacific?

nickdawgy 11-22-03 05:19 PM

I am horrible at this game. It seems like every shot I take goes to the left, and out of bounds or into the hazard. I sucked ass at Tiger Woods 2004, and it appears I am worse at this. I am still playing on the rookie level, too.

:(

Gallant Pig 11-22-03 05:54 PM

All you do is just push it back then forward... Should automatically go straight. Play the club they give you, play without wind. Play offline for a few hours, play the tutorial a few times then get thru all the challenges.

nickdawgy 11-22-03 06:19 PM

I am doing all that and I still end up hitting it to the left. This game is seriously starting to make me mad

mr.snowmizer 11-22-03 06:27 PM

Don't push it up and keep holding it up. That may force it left. I went through two days of hooking it before I realized I had developed this bad technique.

Straight back, straight up, release.
