XBOX SSX3-Which control scheme?

OK, this is my first of the SSX games, and the only remotely similar game I've played is TH4. Obviously the default controls are easier to master, but is it worth it to forego learning them in favor of learning the professional scheme? If so, why?

I saw no point to the pro scheme, and I am an avid SSX fan.
