Annoying TV problem.

:( I'm getting alot of color distortion on my TV when i play games. Whenever there is a color that's dominant, it will start to "burn in" to the TV... The other day on the white madden main menu, my television started to turn green in the white areas. Now i was playing a gameboy game on my gamecube and the zelda "ground" started to distort the color too.

Any ideas? It's getting really distracting.

(Phillips maganavox, bout 3 years old. 27")

I get the same problem with Splinter Cell on my 27" Phillips Magnavox TV, 6 years old. It could be an issue with Phillips TVs.

Anyway, I just pause the game, turn the TV off for 5 minutes and do something else. I really don't think there is a quick fix unless you want to pay for re-calibration which probably costs more than the TV is worth.

Quick tips:

-Turn Sharpness to 0 or close too
-Lower your contrast (If your set is at 100% Contrast you are scorching your CRT's phosphors and overdriving the set to an early grave)
-Do not use a RF Modulator(if you are) as the video signal will go through your TV's Comb Filter which could be a poor one.

more tips:
-unplug your TV from the AC outlet for a few hours. plug it back in. the TV may degauss itself & take care of the color problem
-check to make sure you don't have any strong magnetic fields nearby (e.g. unshielded speakers, other TVs, etc)

Typically, annoying TV problems will belong in that forum. But since this problem seems to occur only when playing video games, let's just leave this here for now.

ClarkKentKY, was I correct in assuming that your TV has problems during video games only?

I think it belongs here cause the majority of times it happens is in Video games. (Not that it really matters anyway)

But it does occasionally happen when i pause DVD's for a long time. So i just don't pause anymore. But with Video games, it means i have to turn the TV off for 5 minutes.

I think it started when i had my receiver too close to the TV about a year ago. I think it may have messed something up. It's been moved since, but i think it may have gotten somethign out of whack.
