Do you keep old sports games?
 

Does anyone out there keep old sports games once the new one comes out? Me being the obsessive-complusive completist, I used to try and keep all of them. Just now I have decided that, keeping old sports games is pretty stupid because once new ones come out I rarely ever touch the old ones. And I care about having all of them lined up on a shelf anymore. Does anyone know of any places that give decent store credit for old sports games? I would try posting on the exchange forum but I really don't think anyone would want stuff like Madden 2001 and NHL 2001 for PS2.

I do keep all my games, I mean, out of date sport games are worth next to nothing anyway. I guess that's why I never buy new sport games b/c they are like $3 in less than a year. :)

Most of them. For me, the Ken Griffey Jr baseball games on SNES are still very playable, while NCAA Basketball for SNES wasn't. I stil LOVE RBI Baseball for NES.

I keep every sports game I've ever owned. From Super Action Baseball on the ColecoVision, to Bseball Simulator 1000 and Tecmo SuperBowl for the NES, NHLPA 93 on the Genesis and so on. It's not about it being out of date, it's gameplay, rosters, changes in artwork, soundeffects/announcing and so on. Each is unique and makes it enjoyable.

Now for something like NCAA 2003 vs 2004, 2004 is clearly better all around. There are no names, no specific players and everything is 100% better with exception to how "amazing" some interceptions are by the CPU on default. Anyways 2003 is one I would get rid of, but since it's not much profit, I'll hang on to it.

I used to try and buy all the new franchise games each year, but now with franchise modes I am more than happy to continue to play them. I still play NCAA 2003 all the time (I'm 15 or so years into my franchise), and I still love the game. For me, it's going to take more than a few bells and whistles to convince me to buy a new sports game at this point.

I'm always a year behind. Like now I only play the 2003 ones, because the 2004s are out. SInce that is the case, I picked them all up at at least half price if not cheaper. Many were like 10-15 bucks..

I'm more then happy to be a year behind to save myself a lot of cash.

No, I sell them a few months before the new games come out and get maximum value. I see no point in keeping something I know for a fact I will never play again.

I can see people keeping sport games for older system, but for the newer ones...why? Will you actually ever play Madden 2003 when you have 2004? Sure, its worth maybe $10 trade-in, but if you are never gonna touch it...

I wish I had kept all my maddens too, I've bought them all, same with NHL EA games.

Super Action Baseball was an awesome game. Still have mine as well, also have Super Action Football. I've lost a couple of the inserts for the controllers though. Have one for each game. Those controllers were nice and bulky.

I've never gotten rid of a game. I have all my games back to the Atari 2600. I'll be playing them all again when I'm 70, until then they are in boxes.

I say amen to that.

If any of you guys wanna trade in your old sports games for new ones, EB is doing a trade in deal toward any upcoming EA Sports game. $5 for every PS2, GC, or X-Box game traded in. NO titles excluded.

To me it's not really worth to trade or sell my old sports games because I won't get that much out of them by the time I buy a newer sports game. Besides I'm the type of player that will go back and play old sports game for the hell of it

I don't buy sports games every year, so I keep mine. By the time I get a new one, the old one (3 years or so old usually) is worth nothing so I'm stuck with it. I try to only buy 1 game per sport per generation, but it doesn't always work out that way. I'm on my 4th football game this gen. Sixth if you count the dreamcast.
