Question about "stealth"games?
"Sorry GatorDeb,"Quote from Amazon"
ok first let me say that i like stealth games and games that make me think that i think is fun but if ur not into stealth i guarantee that u will not like this game, what is a stelth game??? and yes im a "newbie":) |
Uhm if you like stealth games why are you asking what they are? :)
|
what?
all I understood of that was "what is a stelth game???" and even then, I'm not sure. Anyway - a stealth game is one where you have to sneak around and hide and not be detected by the enemy rather than blow everyone up or run around shooting guns. Splinter Cell is the most notable in this genre... also the Thief series of course. |
stealth games contain elements of hiding and operating unseen. whether you're taking out some unsuspecting victim or accomplishing a certain task withough being detected.
Hitman 2 is a good example of a game that uses stealth and makes it hellaciously fun at the same time. i have spent hours on that game, palms sweating while trying to sneak past a gaurd or getting ready to snipe a target. other games that include stealth are metal gear (of course), syphon filter and splinter cell. there are plenty more as well. |
Personally, I have a much easier time with third-person stealth games (MGS, Splinter Cell, Mark of Kri) than the FPS that are stealth based (Thief, SOF 2, Deus Ex). Those games drive me friggin' nuts because if you can't see exactly where you are, it makes hiding from someone else that much harder. I feel that stealth gameplay is killing the FPS genre. But games like Splitner Cell and mark of Kri can be pretty fun.

IMO, Hitman 2 (haven't played 1) and the Thief series are the best examples of stealth. Sneak by guards by any means you can think of, by any path you can find. It is actually non-linear, and that makes the possibilities of sneaking so much more open, as opposed to Splinter Cell, in which your path by the guards/cameras/turrets is very constrained.

If, in a game, you can low crawl unnoticed right up to a guy in an open field as he's looking straight at you, then I think it's safe to say that the stealth aspect of the game is borked. |
"borked" heh
|
Yeah, borked is new to me too.
I prefer...'janky'. |
Janky? Where'd you get that from?
|
Is that like Velma's "jinkies?"
