If you think it's cheap now, just wait till you get into some of the extra missions. As for the levels, it's just a way to mark your progress. It would be nice if your character got stronger based on the level, but it's all down to your own skill and sometimes luck. If you're progressing through the levels, one might expect to be getting better anyway. If you just do the same stuff over and over, it won't beat the harder missions. You have to adapt your game to the mission at hand.
Voldo is a colossal pain the ass for me; I have a handful of missions left to finish the Weapons Master Mode, and he always gives me a tough time. He's hard to block much of time. The AI getting ramped up doesn't make it any easier either... |
I was having fun until the extra missions. Cheap ass A.I. now heh. It's sad you have to resort to cheap tactics to get through some things with your sanity.
For Gamecube owners of SC2 I have found a really effective but cheesy way to get through most of the WMM last night. Link is your friend pick him. Make sure your at the edge of the ring and use his (A)Horizontal+(B)Guard(Arm Twist) throw to throw your opponent out of the ring. This works about 90% of the time when you get the hang of it. It's made playing WMM tolerable. |

I'm blasting through the last Weapon Master matches (like where you fight 7 constantly healing opponents in a row) by using Nightmare. 3 or 4 hits result in a kill, or a couple swipes knock them out of the ring.

I have this game for PS2 (really wanted the Gamecube version for Link but I have no Gamecube :( ) and am loving it so far, despite a few random headaches in Weapon Master Mode.
I have a question about the storylines for the exclusive characters. How did Namco incorporate them into the storyline? I obviously know how they did Heihachi and it made sense (if a little cheesy). Spoiler:
Basically, what are the profiles and endings for Link and Spawn? |
Storylines?

Anyone have any tips for Chapter 4 (Mizeel), Mission 3 on the extra missions? The one where you have five people to beat and only get back 15 seconds per win? I can get past the first two (Mitsurugi and Voldo) usually okay, but Taki is virtually impossible; she simply blocks everything, and while you wait for an unblockable move to charge up, she simply sidesteps and drills you. It's driving me absolutely nuts. Ringouts are suggested I've seen, but it's difficult to keep things by the edge.

Originally posted by RocShemp Uh... yeah. Didn't you notice that whenever you beat the game in arcade or extra arcade you got an ending for the character you used (not to mention a profile was unlocked explaining why that particular character was after Soul Edge)? :p Also, didn't you notice the whole boat load of text in Weapon Master Mode? If you have the Gamecube version use Link and get to the edge of the ring and do his A+B throw for a ring out. Taki may block it a couple of times but it will get through. That mission was horrible for me. I went through it 37 times with other characters till I tried that with Link. I think Ivy has a similar throw with A+B for the other 2 versions. |
I've been trying to complete Weapon Master with Mimic, so that the weapon prices don't go up too much (since the more you use a character, the more expensive their weapons become). This is infuriating, as I'm still not proficient enough in most of the characters to win with a random character. Oftentimes I have to play the same level over and over until I get lucky with character selection...
Anyone else try to do it this way? Or should I give up and just start using the characters? And the game records the number of times you lost on a level... does this make a difference anywhere? Some of the levels have like 1 win and 20 losses... |
Weapon prices are nothing once you do a certain cycle.
Go to the mission where you rack up extra bonus points for every hit landed and use Talim with her weapon that breaks through defense. run up to the enemy and do a,a,b,b knocks em down. turn around and run up and do it again. you have to beat 4 characters though, so dont show off, just get the job done. i racked up 100k in like 10 minutes |

(I tried at CC but they were out of the GC version only. They had plenty of PS2 and XB so I missed out on the $10 gift card, but oh well. I ran right next door to TRU and grabbed this game). Anyway, I loved the DC version and this game truly rocks! It has been several years since I played the DC version so it is just fun remembering all of the characters. I was planning on really just learning Link and maybe one other character before the weekend, but I got to playing and have found several other characters that I want to learn, mainly Necrid... that guy rocks! So, how are the controls on the other systems? I was wondering how they transfered... probably why when it says to push "B" you have to actually push the "Y" button on the GC. It is a pain, but for those who haven't figured out the system, either look in the booklet for the controls or check the control section in the game. One thing I really like about the GC controls is that they used the "L" and "R" buttons as blocks as well as "B", so I can easily push it with another button. Try pushing "B" and "X" at the same time! Also the "C" stick is nice in that it has some built in quick combos like the power up. So far I have to say that I am really enjoying this game, kind of as a new fighter and a reprise of one of my favs. I haven't had a decent fighter since I sold my PS2 and couldn't play Tekken Tag any more. Ok, sleep time now. More SC2 tomorrow after work (please, please, please let it be a short day... I didn't get home until 8:30 tonight) Oh, and is it just me? Every time I have to fight against Maxi I think of Jar Jar Binks saying "Maxi big da Force" (Thats what I hear anyway). (I just watched Ep I the other night, so that could be it.) |
ahh the Maxi big da force jokes I used to share with zero with on SC at the arcade.

Not really a jab at you.. just poking fun at plots in fighting games. :)

The story of just one character would take a whole movie (three if it's one of the older characters). I could see themmaybe pulling off the trio system these games seem to employ with regards to their main characters but, even then, it'd be hard not to make a 3 hour movie if you attempt to balance action sequences with genuine storytelling. I don't know how well that could have been accomplished on a budget of $30 million (that was the budget, right?). Doable but still a bit of a gamble. |
Does anyone else really like the music in this game? I think it's awesome. I'm humming it at work today and it's put me in a good mood! :)
The last time I enjoyed the music in a fighting game this much was with Tekken3. I downloaded MP3s of the songs in Tekken3 and listened to the music everywhere I went. I thought the music in TekkenTag, Tekken4, and VF4 were all terrible. DOA3 music was not as bad, but not that great either. I think it's so important to have good music in a fighting game, and I'm so glad that SC2 got it right! Anyone know where I might be able to get some MP3s of the music of SC2? |

Anyone know where I might be able to get some MP3s of the music of SC2? the soundtrack is out there on cd. You can get it free with the special edition Strat. guide and you can buy it on import cd. Got mine some time back and it's well worth it. SC also had a good soundtrack and is well worth a finding.. searching kazaa is pointless for this... but it is out there online for download.. just wont tell you were since forum rules goes against that. http://www.digicube.co.jp/music/soul2sound.html |
