Where do you buy your videogames?
 

I'm looking to pick up some newer titles (Mario Advance 3, Metroid Fusion) and some older titles (Breath of Fire, Lufia: Ruins of Lore). Where does everyone get their videogames?

Occasionally target, and very infrequently game stores (only when there's a good preorder or trade in deal).

Ditto. Best Buy is usually the best deal. It's especially nice if you can get them to match a compeditor's price and then add on the $5 coupon, but that usually doesn't work. Fry's will occasionally have a nice deal as well. Since I live pretty far from the airport, I'll just have BB match their price, though.
I'll usually stock up on those coupons and put $1 on each card and buy 5 or 6 at a time. Also those free Summer Game Guides have $5 off Platnum Hits and M<ad Catz accessories coupons in them.
BTW Deb I wanted to get ahold of you, anyways. Now that I have an Xbox, maybe we can trade games sometime. Also I'll eventually get Live as well. My one recent recommendation for you is Rallisport Challenge. It looks amazing and can be had for $15 with a coupon. It's not Live, but still, it's totally worth it.

Are these all GBA games (I know the first two are, but the others could be older PS games...) In general, for first party games and more popular third party games (Castlevania, Megaman, etc.), Target, Best Buy, and Circuit City will have pretty good deals for the first few weeks... 20 to 25 bucks. Target will also drastically mark down older games a few months after release.

Your best bet to get Lufia and BOF is to go to a dedicated game store, though, that has not only a good backstock of used titles, but a good supply of older titles. I think both have been marked down (BOF1 was 40 bucks, but I picked it up at BB for 20, and I've seen Lufia for 20-25, though it is a bit harder to find)

If prices are equal all around, I go to Best Buy.

Usually Best Buy, but if it's a title I absolutely cannot wait to play, I'll pre-order it at one of the game stores in the mall, since that'll usually get it in my hands a day or two before everyone else.

Pretty much anywhere I can get something at a decent discount. So I've bought at BB, CC, EB, WalMart, Costco, Target, Gamestop, SamGoody, Blockbuster, when they have games on sale.

I always buy my games USED and from Gamestop or EBWorld... usually Gamestop. I don't mind used games, and they're even cheaper with the frequent 10% off or Buy 2 get 1 free deals...

Then again, I rarely buy NEW games (except GTA III and Vice City... I usually just steal those) :D

I buy new from Best Buy usually when games are on sale and i can get an additional $5 off with a coupon.

For older, obscure titles i go to local videogame stores, Gamestop, Funcoland, and EB. I finally tracked down a copy of Tactics Ogre for GBA!

New Games, usually Best Buy.

Older, out of print games, anywhere I can find them (usually Gamestop because there are so many of them and the ones that used to be Funcoland have a pretty good sized stock of older titles).

I get most of my new games from work.

I'm employed at a newspaper and one of the few perks of the job is that every six months our newsroom holds an auction to sell all the promotional goods companies give them (books, CDs, software, mouse pads, etc). The proceeds are given to charity. There's normally a nice stack of video games, and since I'm the only hardcore gamer in the office I end up with most of the games. I can get brand new sealed games for about $3 to $5. I also got a GameCube with four games, two controllers and a wavebird for $80 and a GameBoy Advance for $15.

I usually wait for sale then where ever. For a new game I don't want to wait for (Madden 04 comes to mind) I go to whoever is closest.

Fry's Electronics, only because it's the closest place.

Although I just bought Lionheart at Gamestop, cuz I was in the area.

you can take those. they are free. no need to put money on them. just dont be rediculous and take more then you need.

I usually pick mine up wherever I can find the rock bottom $$ deals. Usually wind up PM'ing whoever at Best Buy and using the $5 coupon on top of it (haven't had any problems doing this with my local BB) Trick seems to be to get the PM first, then hand the coupon over, and never ask if it is ok, just expect them to handle it. Once they are that far into it, they never seem to have a problem doing both.

I've picked up others directly through Microsoft (for the X-Box) and various other ways.

I've managed to hit a deal or 2 at Target, but very rarely.

I buy most of my games at work (EB Games). 10% off new and 20% off pre-owned. Anything super rare, I shop eBay or Half.com

Here's the problem: Once the price adjust is done, the coupon won't work anymore; it'll still scan, but the lower price won't be reflected. I've had several employees try and fail. When they call a manager, it's game over. Last week, however I bought Halo and the clerk just adjusted the price down manually. I guess it's hit-or-miss, but it certainly isn't a sure thing.

I have NEVER been able to get them to use both either. And I usually frequent four different BB.

It seems like it is more store dependent than employee dependent.

I see that they have to do a little bit of coaxing to the register, but they always seem to get it done when I've went. Takes an extra 2 minutes or so usually, but no problems here.

i pretty much wait until games are old and buy them online/used dirt cheap. If I must have a newer game, for some reason, I pretty much just search the ads, find out wheres its advertised as being the cheapest, and go pick it up across the river where they dont have sales-tax. Absolutely no store loyalty.
