Does CD Copying slow down your XBOX ?

I've had my BOX for about a year and a half now and have only copied 3 CDs on it (2 Linkin Parks and Incubus). I have a ton of CDs I wanna put on it but would like to first know would doing so slow it down. Also, how can I copy CDRs on my BOX.

Thanks

I've got about 30 CD's stored on my xbox. No slowdowns here. Xbox'x only read certain types of media, like CD-rw's and certain brands of CD-r's.

I have 60+ CDs on my XBOX and right now I'm in the process of adding more.

The speed of your games will not get sufferdue to the media you store in your machine and you won't have any problems at all.

And I use Memorex CD-RWs and have pretty good luck with them. If it gives me any crap about not been able to read the disc I just eject it and reload it a few times.

DIdn't I read in another thread (ahem search) That the area of the HD that the game uses is partitioned off from the area where CDs are stored?

Depends on what type of drive you have. The Philips and Thompson drives are hit and miss. But if youre lucky enough to have a Samsung it will read pretty much anything you throw at it.

Pretty slim list considering what a cool feature it is.

And the upcoming True Crime: Streets of LA is supposed to use this feature.

fyi, there's more titles than just these that support custom soundtracks. from top of my head I also know
both Deathrow and Super Bubble Pop do too!

Well, it really only works for certain games (namely racers and extreme sports games that already have real music soundtracks).

In many games the in game music is more or less the same as a movie's score, and the atmosphere of the game would be ruined if you changed it. Not to mention the makers worked hard to create that atmosphere and aren't going to want people to be able to just ignore it and put their own music in.

The fact is, most game music sucks and it sucks hard. I don't care if I'm ruining the "atmosphere." I'm the one playing, so I'd like to choose what I listen to. It's all about offering OPTIONS to the gamer...it was a selling point of the console that has been underutilized IMHO.

If I want to listen to "Strawberry Shortcake and Friends Sing Silly Songs" while playing Splinter Cell, I should be able to, dammit!

Suit yourself. I want to hear the game music as I want to the play the game the way the makers intended.

Changing the music would be akin to watching a movie in Pan and Scan IMO.

I think the Madden 2004 has this feature as well.
