Will GC go online after all?
here are a couple of sources.
The folks at GameCube Advance had an interview with Gamespy president Jon Epstein, where it was confirmed that Gamespy will provide middleware technology for online Nintendo Games. Their tools will be flexible enough for Nintendo or its developers to support any peripheral of their choice, such as keyboards, headsets, so their limit will be only the developer's needs. They will be included in games with online play modes, and will take care of all online related applications, such as player matchmaking, text and voice chat, instant messaging, online storage and others. Using Gamespy services won't require players anything more than the broadband adapter that is already available, and Nintendo is free to plan any marketing strategy that seems fit, even one without monthly fees. The tools aren't ready yet, but the first games using them should be out Q4 2003 or at least Q1 2004. http://www.ultimategamez.com/extras/...nterview.shtml |
Is it like Nintendo's goal to always be a year or two behind everyone else? This will be good for gamespy at least.

Cool. Just imagine all the time that's going to be wasted playing all of the multiplayer Nintendo games online.

I just can't wait for them to at least double their online library. One friggin' game still. Come on. As much as I love PSO, I can't justify getting the adapter for just one game. Maybe this means they are finally headed in the right direction.

As much as I love PSO, it ain't worth $9 a month. :(

As soon as I see a game I want that broadband adaptor is mine. Although maybe I shouldn't since I haven't hooked my Xbox Live back up since I got my new computer.
