Are you ready for some football? (Madden 2004....early!?)
It has been reported on many sites that Madden may be shipping this week. There has been no confirmation from EA Sports, but there is a teaser on the Madden ticker at their site saying to check your local stores for early ship dates. The earliest we will know anything is tomorrow, since that's when stores will be getting them if they shipped today.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.

PS2 is the only system with online play, so that's what I'd go for. I went with Sega last year, I can't wait to correct that mistake next week.

For gameplay & graphics which one do I get. Is there that big of a difference? Should I just stick with ps2 since that is the one I've always had?

Well, the XBox version will probably be the only one with DD 5.1 sound. It should look slightly better too.
Tomorrow is my birthday, so if it's out tomorrow, that would be great.

Sessa17,
Get the X-box version.
I'm in the same boat as you, don't like online gaming and just got an X-box.
The X-box version will probably have DD 5.1, probably look the best (at least as good as the others) and the HD is a huge plus for sports games.

If you look at the countdown, it's like 9 days.. I think when they say some stores may get it early, they mean they may get it the 12th instead of the 14th which if I remember correctly is the advertised street date. They are probably just acknowledging that EB and such will get it next Monday or Tuesday instead of the 14th.

I talked to a Gamestop manager yesterday and he did indeed say they will be getting it early (Monday) and that you need to preorder to get it that day. Needless to say, I preordered (haven't gotten a new Madden in a couple years).

I guess I'm the only one who dislikes Madden. I've been a Sega convert for the past 5 years or so, ever since NFL2K on Dreamcast. I'm not a big fan of EA sports games nowadays because it seems like they lean more toward an arcade feel than a sim feel. Plus, I like the interface more with Sega--complete with ESPN this year. I will give Madden a rent, however, to check it out and judge for myself. Who knows? Maybe I could end up buying it if I like it enough.

I will buy this yet again, have had every version since Madden Football on my Genesis. I wish EA would make nice with M$ and give us online with the best graphics, as it stands I will go with best graphics as I hate all the cheesers on Madden '02 online. I can't wait to have a complete owners mode online, some day.
