Ultimate Gamers Expo postponed. Why?

Saw that this expo in Los Angeles got moved to Summer 2004. Anyone know why? Does it have to do with it being too close to E3's completion?

Ultimate Gamers Expo Postponed Until Summer 2004

Budget Considerations, Other Reasons Behind Delay of August Event

The Ultimate Gamers Expo, slated to be a high-profile consumer event, has been postponed until the summer of 2004.

The event was to be held August 15-17 in the Los Angeles Convention Center, and unlike E3, this show was for the gamers. In addition to a wide range of gaming demonstrations, the event was to also include tournaments as well as allow gamers to purchase the latest in gaming merchandise, attend game design workshops and enjoy a wide range of live entertainment.

The official explanation is as follows: "In order to better accommodate the increasing interest of game publishers, and also to allow them the opportunity to include our event in their annual budgets, we are postponing The Ultimate Gamers Expo until Summer of 2004. The extra lead time will also allow us to create more comprehensive media/sponsorship packages for participating companies. We will have the details for next year's event available in the next few weeks."

My guess: developers can't afford to waste time there instead of getting games ready for the holiday season.

The biggest thing the event had going for it was the unveiling of the Phantom.

It is quite obvious that this event would not have been big enough to draw the kinds of crowds they would need to generate profits.
