KOTOR -- Leveling Up Problems -- Please Read
I know I convinced some people to 'save' thier levels and logically it works. BUT there has arisen a bug -- confirmed by the developers that goes as such:
The characters in your party receive 80% of your XP even when they arent out travelling with you. This is what I experienced when i played the game without saving levels. IF YOU SAVE LEVELS-- Your characters will no longer get 80% of your XP. Only the characters that are PHYSICALLY WITH YOU. "We found out some more info on this. It does only happen if you save levelups before you become a Jedi. Also, the more levelups you save, the bigger the pool of XP that you have to make up is. For example, if you have 8 levels saved up, you will need to acquire around 27,000 XP for the party pool before NPCs on the ship will start to gain XP again. If you only have 1 or 2 levels saved, it will be much less. By the end of the game, the 27,000 XP that they are missing only equates to one level or so. So, while it may make a couple of planets in the middle of the game more challenging (if you use the "weak" NPCs instead of the same two all the time), it will work itself out in the end." --Dave McGruther Client Care Specialist, Bioware You can avoid this bug by leveling up normally before leaving taris/beginning your jedi training. |
NOW you tell me :p
So I should level normally then? I didn't understand a word you/he said, BTW :D |
OK, some people saved thier levels to get the MAX out of becomming a jedi, since for every level you gain more powers and the max level is 20
Doing it this way has a cost tho, if you do, your OTHER characters wont share your experience points like they are supposed to. save levels and you will be the most powerful in your team. Dont save levels and you will all level up evenly and you wont be overly heavy on the jedi skills. your choice. |
deb, join the dark side.... you will become more powerful then you can possibly imagine...
;) |
No! I must resist the dark forces....
|
Only Dark Jedi would keep XP for themselves. In that case wouldn't you just kill your other party members?
|
Well if it wasn't for Obi-Wan Ferris, I'd be at least a level 5 by now! :)
|
damn this sounds confusing. i'm skipping this game.
...until i get an xbox. :o |
I might understand all of this if I just understood what you mean by "saving levels." :)

In the game you can either level up manually or automatically. RPGs up to now have you level up automatically. By saving levels he means that you choose to level up manually but don't actually level up and just keep amassing and amassing experience points, hence saving levels.
:) |
Saving levels until a point in the game for which you become a jedi and can 'spend' your levels on jedi skills.

I started over (from a save i had from JUST before i left Taris) because i had been saving my levels and was kickin but as a jedi but Im kind of a team guy and i want my other characters to level up equally with me. So for me I humbled myself and leveled up BEFORE becoming a jedi. This is my 'swashbuckling' jedi stage. My last time thru this game i was 100% light, this time im in the middle next time ill be 100% DARK.
Depends how you want to play. |
