Need Help with Grand Theft Auto Vice City on pc. Please?
I just received this game as a Birthday gift, and I am having some problems.
1) I can't access the menu while playing the game. I can get the save menu from the save tape at the hotel, but it will not allow me to quit the game or shut the game down.
2) How do you pause the game, or access the maps during play?
I would really appreciate help.
This game is great, I had read things about it but I had no idea what it was really like.

Is the save tape at the hotel the only place where we can save the progress of a game?
Whenever I feel tired I drive back to the hotel and save. But recently at one point when I went back, it was locked and I couldn't get in. This is the episode where you run down the pizza delivery guy. I run down the guy and go back to the hotel and I found it locked.

Did you complete the mission? You can't save while you're ON a mission.
As for other save points, yes, you can find other places... but you usually have to buy them in order to save there.

1. Grab a car (no convertibles, cabs, or cop cars)
2. Drive until you see some nice-but-naughty looking women. Park and see if one walks up to the car to chat. When one does, let her get in.
3. Find a fairly secluded spot (in some trees or bushes).
4. Watch

As for nothing happening with the "babe", just keep trying, eventually "it'll" happen
Flying the choppers is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. You have to learn how to gently tap up on your controller (assuming you're using one, that is) to make the chopper fly forwards without going down too low and crashing. Practice, and before long you'll be flying almost 90% of the game. You'll ask yourself before each mission
"Is this doable by air?"
Any other questions, post them, I'd be happy to help. Good luck with the game. As you probably already found out, it's amazingly fun.

BTW, My PC crashes in the mission just after the riot where I have to go to the guy on the boat to get a chainsaw. Luckily, the game offered an alternate mission where I can help out the Redneck real estate guy rub out the pizza guy and the golfing guy. Now I am on the helicopter mission. I hope I can avoid that chainsaw mission.

Hob, you should get a controller, it'd probably be alot easier
I never played w/o one, so I am not sure of the keyboard controls. Go with what TeeSeejay said
The chainsaw mission isn't required to beat the game, I don't think. Maybe it is...I forget. It might be a bug, wait for a patch before you attempt it again, or save right before you try.
Good luck
