Will the Population of Xbox Live Gamers Get Spread Too Thin?

Take for example: Soldiers of Fortune II: Double Helix

My fear with getting games like this is how spread thin gamers will be on XBL. Will FPS fans still want to play SOF when games like GR, and RTCW exist, not to mention upcoming games like Counterstrike, Halo 2,etc.?

I'm afraid there will be a point where there will be so many xbox live games it will be more and more difficult to find games to join, especially on the less popular and older titles.

This in part assumes that the number of XBL games outpaces the growth and retention rate of XBL accounts.

Thoughts?

Certainly is a possiblity. Gamers are likely to move towards new games as time goes on. (assuming there are good games reaching the market)

It already happens with PC games on the net in some cases. You move on, or setup matches with people you know.

One of the exceptions are the Half life mods. They are enjoying a long life due to the fact that they are great games, basically free to play and even worked decent with a 56k connection. The outbreak of clans and gaming leagues have certainly helped extend the life of those games as well.
