Need a PC controller for GTA:Vice City
Can anyone reccomend a good PC controller for this game? Preferably nothing to expensive. And the controller would pretty much be used for this game only, so no need to take FPS's in account or whatever

horrible price on that one. I got it for 18 bucks at Wal-Mart. I have seen them all over for 20-25

I have something similar to this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=21187 It works quite well. let's you use a PS2 controller on the pc, should work very well for Vice City. |
nickdawgy, if the maple leaf and the .ca didn't give it away, that is in Canadian funds. I got mine for $30 cnd not too long ago...
|
I have a Logitech Rumblepad, and I also have three of these:

How about this?
Logitech Cordless Elite MX Duo http://images10.newegg.com/productim...126-124-04.JPG Seriously - I think Mouse and Keyboard work best for this game... but if you must get a controller since you can't shake the console player in you - try this one... Logitech Cordless RumblePad http://images10.newegg.com/productim...127-203-01.JPG or the Nostromo N30 and N50 http://images10.newegg.com/productim...169-001-05.JPG http://images10.newegg.com/productim...169-002-10.JPG |

I use a <a href="http://us.thrustmaster.com/products/lookproduct.php3?productid=10&skin=Gamepads" target="_blank">Thrustmaster FireStorm Dual Power Game Pad</a>
<center><IMG height=200 alt="" src="http://www.compusa.com/product_images/images/full/09/301909_f.gif" width=200 border=0></IMG></center> It's the best I've found. If you like the Playstation 2 controller, you would like this one. |
Hmm, that one has quad shoulder buttons... I like that.
But it only has 4 thumb buttons :( I want six damnit! |
The Hammerhead I linked to has quad shoulder buttons. Well, technically it has two shoulder and two trigger buttons below them.

You can't do any better than the original microsoft sidewinder usb gamepad.
|
Really Will? hmmm, maybe a new controller is in my future :)

I think it's really the best PC gamepad out their (except maybe the Wireless Logitech w/ throttle slider). They are getting very hard to find so if you think you want one I'd recommend snatching one up ASAP. The description at outpost.com is for the old version (these things were introduced 3 years ago or so), they are actually translucent blue, straight USB (no gameport adapter) and don't require batteries for the rumble (though I've never really tried to get mine woring since I'm not really interested in the rumble feature). The only negative things I have to say about it are 1) a lot of sim games by default read the right thumbstick up/down axis as rudder left/right by default. Not sure if this is the fault of the game or the pad, but if you can't re-assign the axis it can be an annoyance. And 2) It will work through a USB hub, but if I power up or reboot with it plugged in I have to unplug and plug it in again for it to be detected. Both of these things are pretty minor to me and are far outweighed by the high-points.

Is InterAct out of business? Their site is down and I need to find their customer service number.
|
They may be, their site has been down for a good while now. I think they are/were owned by Recoton, you might want to try contacting them.
Actually, try this: http://www.interact-pc.com/ |
Since I doubt have a credit card and I live in a foreign country, it'll be impossible for me to get one. Thanks for the help anyways Will.
