X Box problem

My X Box failed to work on Saturday. I called cutomer service and told me to send it to them to fix. I am curious to find out how many times people had to send theirs in to get fixed.

so far none, had it since Nov. But then, I put mine in my theater cabinet and haven't moved it...too many things in there that could break from moving it.

Had mine since launch - never had a problem.

Since last Oct, no probs.

I think I bought mine last September. I've have zero problems with it. I really haven't touch it in about 3 months, been playing the gamecube.

I did get excited today. I finally found some CDRW's that would copy music to the xbox hd. That may keep me busy with the xbox for a while.

Had it since last Feb, and I have had a couple of reading errors. That's about it.

Bought mine at launch, it died last winter after only occasional use. MS wanted $100+ to fix it. Instead, I sold it on ebay for $85, and bought a new one for $180 a couple weeks ago.

First gaming machine I've ever had die on me.

I had mine at December after launch 2001, the dvd rom gave errors on most disks (even Ghost Recon - brand new shrink wrapped) after 14 months, they wanted $100 to fix it as the warranty expired. Eventually they repaired it for free. DVD Rom was bad and got a new one in there.

Now no problems, but I would suggest an extended warranty if very cheap, as you can get a new one for $179 now.

I bought mine a few weeks after launch. No problems until I starting getting the occasional "dirt disc error" message. It became more frequent until I finally could not play games at all. I sent it in to get fixed around January of this year. Got it back and they obviously did nothing to it (or "fixed" the wrong problem.

I raised holy hell, sent it back in again & I have not seen a "dirty disc" message since. I was definitely glad I bought the warranty (something I never do usually).

If it's telling you that it can't read a disc (disc-error) then this a a problem that happens to the first and smoe second generation machines. The DVD readers are not the best and will flake out.

Mine started giving me problems after about a year (I got mine in December 2001). I mailed it to them (with a box they sent to me) and it was back to me within 5 days. It's worked fine ever since.

Works great and the repair was free.

Does anyone else's X-box controllers blow? Out of our hallway in our dorm, we had 4 x box's, and out of the 8 controllers we had 2 that were completely broke and unusable, and another 2 that were breaking or some buttons didn't work.

I bought my xbox around june/july of 2002. I would get a dirty disc error sometimes when I was playing Morrowind but otherwise it was okay.

Back in april this year I got a "modded xbox" error while trying to get onto xbox live. Needless to say, I did not modify my xbox so I had to send in my box. After they received and fixed my box, they sent it out to me only to have the exact same error message. I was pretty upset and called the support ppl immediately. I had to resend my box in and this time they sent me a refurb unit to me instead of trying to fix my box. Total time for this problem to be fixed including shipping time...6 1/2 weeks. MS really does support their product which is great but the hassle of sending in my box twice for the same problem was a bit frustrating. By the time I got my box back, I didnt have the urge to play more anymore. Now I'm just waiting for halo 2 :)

Not sure what they do with them, but there is a good market for broken Xboxes on ebay.
